Nervous...
Question: For starters.. I always suspected that I had hsv-1 since I can remember because sometimes when I get really really sick, I get fever blisters or cold sores on my lips. I think during my last really bad sickness, I had blisters on the side of my right nostril. But it isn't that frequent so I never really got tested. I was also in denial. I also found through my research that it is pretty common to have hsv-1 now a days. Anyway, last night when I went to urinate, I noticed something very weird on the head of my penis. It was on the left side actually. It looked like a tiny white pimple. Like an idiot, I proceeded to squeeze it so I can pop it. I was nervous as hell when I saw it. Today, I examined my penis even further and every single part is normal except for this one tiny area. Right now it looks like a single tiny canker sore. I don't feel any pain when I urinate or when I shower. Does this mean that it is definitely gential herpes? I searched the internet for more info and found that one of the symptoms of syphilis is a single sore on the penis. A part of me really hopes it is syphilis because it is curable. However, I am a little confused as how it could be genital herpes. The last time I had sex was sometime in mid October. I did use a condom during intercourse but I didn't use one for oral sex. I still talk to this girl too and everything seems normal with her. She hasn't been sleeping around and always uses condoms. The only other thing I can think of is maybe I passed it to my penis when I touched a sore or blister on my face at some point. So what is the next step. I want to get a comprehensive blood test. Do I just go to my family doctor or a special clinic? Is it possible it could be something other than herpes? I've been feeling really depressed since last night. Do you think there will ever be a cure for herpes or will it exist forever and ever? Thanks for your time. Answer: You need to see a dr while this sore is new. Either go to your general dr. or go to a clinic such as "Planned Parenthood". Have them specifically test you for herpes even if they aren't sure what it is. You can get a swab of the sore itself and there are blood tests. Get both. Herpes is very contagious and you can get it through oral sex especially if the person has a coldsore. Answer: Get tested, because if you had a bad cold sore or "fever blister" you could have transfered it down there yourself by not washing your hands or something. Also like caliope said if someone has a cold sore and goes down on you TADA you will get it down there. Answer: Yes, I went to the doctor yesterday and asked them to test me for everything known to man including HIV. I always use condoms during intercourse so my only explanation would be that I transferred it myself or during oral. But I've known this girl for quite sometime and she didn't have any sores. I'm just hoping it is some bacterial type of sore.. but i'll find out monday when I have my follow-up appointment. So far it is still that one tiny sore and it doesn't hurt when it is touched or when I pee. =( Answer: I don't want to scare you but it is not necessary for it to be painful for it to be hsv. it is also quite common to be passed from a partner who does not have symptoms. Condoms are not 100% effective against transmitting or contracting hsv because the virus is not isolated to the penis or vagina. It would be great if it is something else but it is best to find out for sure. Answer: Yea, i've read that. I think I'll at least test positive for hsv-1 because on rare occassions I can get cold sores/fever blisters on my lips. It is not often though.. maybe once a year or once every two or three years. I never thought anything of it but when I research it online, it seems that fever blisters/cold sores are automatically caused by hsv-1. I'm hoping it is something bacterial like chrancoid or syphilis. But i'm fearing the worst. Answer: Coldsores or fever blisters are absolutely an infection caused by the herpes simplex virus.
