Just got the positive results....

Question:
I just found out that my boyfriend of six years gave me genital herpes. I am hurt and sad. I have no one to talk to. I am too embarrassed to tell anyone. Not even my closest friends. Our relationship was rocky at best and since he found out he has it, he has clung to me as his support system. Now I know I have it. My greatest fear is our relationship ending. Who would want a 40 year old woman with herpes?

Answer:
I'm sorry you are going through this. Your feelings of not being wanted because of herpes is something a lot of people on this forum experience, myself included. You will also find a lot of people on here that have found wonderful partners and are having fulfilling relationships amidst herpes. Maybe you should think about why you are in a 6 year relationship that is "rocky at best" and why you would deserve this type of relationship with or without herpes? Don't let herpes define you. We are all worthy of wonderful relationships.

Answer:
I was diagnosed two weeks ago now, and I'm the same way. Too embarrassed to tell my close friends, I have confided in one internet friend that is married. I'm oh so grateful for this forum for support for my (Secret).
In time I'm sure I'll feel about it like every other part of my sex life, not to be shared, except with a few close friends. But for now, it's embarrassing, painful and frightening to think of telling future lovers.
People here do care and will stick with you.:
