Blood Test Results in, Any Experts???
Question: O.K., I just got back my results from my HerpesSelect blood test. This comes just 4 weeks after a possible exposure. Can anyone explain to me what these results mean? Is the 80H under HSV IGM AB TITER rather high and what does it mean??? Here it is, word for word: H Simplex AB Type 1 and 2 IGG IGM HSV 1&2 IGG Type Specific Antibodies HSV1 IGG TYPE SPECIFIC AB >5.0 H INDEX REFERENCE RANGE: <0.90 NEGATIVE 0.90-1.10 EQUIVOCAL >1.10 POSITIVE HSV2 IGG TYPE SPECIFIC AB 0.17 INDEX REFERENCE RANGE: <0.90 NEGATIVE 0.90-1.10 EQUIVOCAL >1.10 POSITIVE This assay is type specific and will differentiate between HSV-1 and HSV-2 infections. A single positive result only indicates previous immunologic exposure and the level of antibody response may not be used to determine active infection or disease stage. HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS IGM ANTIBODY, SCREEN HSV IGM AB SCREEN DETECTED INDEX Reference Range: NOT DETECTED HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS IGM ANTIBODY, TITER HSV IGM AB TITER 80H TITER Reference Range: <10 The Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) IgM test measures total IgM antibody reacting to both HSV Types 1 and 2 without distinguishing between them. Due to shared antigens, antibodies to HSV Type 1 and 2 show strong cross-reactivity. Infection with one type may produce an anamnestic response with the preexisting antibody. Answer: Sorry tinglered... I just replied to someone else's post which is about test result. I have no idea about these numbers of your result.... But didn't it give you some kind of summary for you to understand the result? Didn't it tell you at least if you have HSV-1 or/and 2 or not...? Faith Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
