Herpes Testing
Question: I have a question and hopefully someone can answer it. How common is it for the herpes virus to lie dormant for 6 months, 1 year after contracting it?? When would it be a safe time to have a blood test to determine if one is infected?? I tested at 7 weeks and it was 'negative' or so they say. What do you think?? I hate this window period crap. Also, I have another question. Has anyone ever been to a clinic for any other STD? How does it work? Do they test you and then give you treatment?? Thanks a million for someone who can answer. Answer: The herpes virus could lay dormint for years... Some ppl infected by the virus never have an outbreak during their life time... Some outbreak within 2 days after contracting it... Why?? I'd like to say its because of your immune system, but I'm pretty sure thats wrong, actually no one knows... It's like the HIV virus... That too could lay dormint in your body for a long time... Why? I dunno... When should you get tested, it's hard if you've never outbreaked, because your body doesn't develope anti bodies which are what the blood tests, test for... I would say 6 months though, but even than it might not be enough... Has anyone ever been to a clinic??? Ohhh do I ever get alot of of PMs about that... The answer is YES... When you go, they'll ask you to sit down, ussualy they group the men and women in differant rooms... Anyways when they take you in the doctor sits you down and asks you a couple questions to A: make you more comfortable, B: to find out what exactly what your worried about... Trust me everyone that goes into a STD clinic is worried about something, for some reason... They'll ussually preform standard test for the most common STDs... For men, the doctor inserts a swab into your penis which goes about half way through your rod... For women, they'll spread their legs and insert a swab as well, but this one opens like an umbrella as it comes out for a good sample... Your probably thinking, does it hurt? I'd say it was one of the most un-comfortable feelings in my life... It's not pleasant at all... I heard its even worse for woman :? If your worried about anything else they can do specal swab tests for culture herpes or blood tests for HIV, which btw also need at least 6 months for a definative answer... Anyways go and find out, its an "experiance" you won't forget, make sure you grab a couple free condoms on your way out the door... Good luck, I gotta go do some homework... :x Read this Rich Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
