I am currently dealing with the issue of ignorance(lack of knowledge). There are sooo many simple minded people out there who believe that anyone with an STD is considered "dirty". I am reminded almost everyday that girls who are "dirty sluts" have STD's. This upsets me because I am not one of those people, and neither are any of you. I wish there was a way to help open people's eyes to herpes. One out of every four Americans are infected with HSV, 90% of these people do not even know that they are infected. I think the ignorance is what scares us all. This is the reason I am afraid that the people around me will find out. The world os a close minded place. It is sad that it takes something like this to figure it out. Many are not aware of how common it is. The people who judge, may even be infected, and not even know it. There has got to be an easier way.[/b]

I wish there was a way to help open people's eyes to herpes. I think I sense what you are hoping for... And I hope I'm not out of place by saying that it seems to me like you are kinda in the position that you would feel better if others didn't have such a pre-disposition to think a certain way about HSV.

And I'd just like to say 'fuck em'... Who cares if the world DOES, or DOES NOT think people with HSV are or are not dirty.

WE know they aren't. YOU know they aren't... It would be 'nice' if everyone was non-judgemental, and had a full and accurate understanding of things.

And certainly, we'll all do our tiny part to pass on what we know to others, as that's just the right thing to do... But along the way... Who cares what anyone else thinks?

Other peoples ignorance is their problem, not yours. Don't make it yours by being upset, or pre-occupied with it.

Anyway...

In this instance, I don't know what you mean by having to 'deal with the issue of ignorance'...

But anyway, that's just my thoughts in general about what other people think.

You are who you are... You have control over certain things and no control over others. If you live your life as best possible, and self-evaluate to make sure you are as good of a person as you can be, to hell with anyone else who has a problem with that. You're value does not come from what other people think wether they say good things, or bad things, or wether they think nice things, or bad things... Your value comes from yourself, and what you think about yourself.
