hi richard. i have been reading ur comments and see that you are very knowledgeable in this field. I need u to answer a question of mine. Five weeks ago i had protected sex with a girl. two days later i had extreme itching which has subsided but hasn't gone away five weeks later. in the middle of this itching i got sick (not sure if it was from the stress this itching caused me or what) and i had a loss of appetite and was tired, no fever or headache. My testicles did look a little more red than normal (but it might have been from the itching). I went to the doctor, he said it probably wasn't herpes, but i don't know if i should believe him. i wanted to do a herpes blood test, but he said it was unnecessary. Anyways, its been five weeks, it still itches, no blisters or any of bumps, no swelling, just a lot of itching. This is stressing me out to the point where i can' t think of anything else. What could this possibly be?

Sounds like jock itch or crabs or something. Did your doctor tell you anything else or perscribe anything? If you want a type specific blood test to check for HSV then tell your doctor that's what you want. He can't refuse it just because he doesn't think it's herpes.
