Opinion please
Question: This past Sunday I noticed pain when I wipped after using the bathroom. I pulled out a mirror to check and noticed 3 small ulcers/sores on my labia minoria. I went to the doctor on Tuesday and he thinks from visual inspection that I have herpes. As far as I know this is my first outbreak. I have been with the same partner for 7 years. We haven't had sex since X-mas (sad huh?) and he swears up and down that he hasn't had an affair. He also just recently had a physical for the military and he says that the physical included testing for STD's which came back negative. Three years ago I went to my gyno because I had a sore on my labia. I had gained weight and was too stubborn to buy bigger jeans so I wore my jeans without panties and the friction from the too tight jeans caused a sore on my labia. My gyno thought it was herpes and ran test but they came back negative. About 3 years before that I had knicked myself shaving on my labia and caused a sore. That time the doctor just thought it was what it was, a razor cut that got infected and gave me antibiotics and it went away. Is this Herpes? Or can there be another reason for the ulcers/sores? Of course I have been reading everything I can find on herpes and stressing myself out big time. Any opinions, advice would be greatly appreciated! Answer: It takes up to 4 months for your body to produce enough antibodies against HSV to be detected for a blood test. If you think you may have had herpes for a long time then get a bloodtest. I don't know if you doc ran a culture or a bloodtest. If you got the bloodtest and you don't think your doc is giving you a good answer after seeing the problem then maybe seek the opinion of another. You can also wait another month or 3 and get another bloodtest. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
