non sexual transmition?

Question:
I recent shared a bed for four nights with a friend while on a vacation. We shared the bed, sleeping in boxers. We may have shared cups, shower towel. He had the flu or so he thought. We now found out it's HSV2. He had no outbreak though, just fluish feeling. I got the same fluish feeling 3 days after the vacation and now also think I have HSV2, tests come back on fri. Can you get it through no sex, but sharing close personal space?

Answer:
Well if a body part touched an area where he was having an outbreak you might worry. Sharing a cup is a bad idea, especially if he was having an outbreak.

Basically its like this: No Outbreak - no worries.
If you are worried, go get a bloodtest done in about a month.

Answer:
ok, by outbreak I guess I mean visible sores, he did not have those. He did have what he thought was body pimples/ingrown hairs on his body - not his genitals, but he now knows those pimples were related to the HS2. So I guess that was an outbreak even though I was thinking of more of a traditional cold sore looking symptom. I'm now having one or two of the same pimples not on my genitals, but outer thighs. Am I crazy? Are these just a few zits and I'm making this up?

My other question is IF I do have herpes and they never get any worse than a little flu feeling and two zits can I just self treat with Lisine and better diet, etc? Would this be harming my health? I have had an outbreak of cold sores only twice in my life, (I'm 34) and they heal in a day or two and are no big deal. This seems way less severe, if that's what it is and I would have never even noticed it to be honest. Can I just roll with it and see how it goes or should you totally jump in with treatments?

Thoughts? Ideas?

Answer:
While you have the sores on your outter thighs it would be a good time to have them checked out by a doctor. If it turns out to be herpes your doc could go over treatments with you. No sense in seeking treatment for something you might not have. Find out if you have it first.

Answer:
It is possible that the pimples on your thigh are just that, pimples, and the fluish feeling you felt after your vacation was just due to being run down or your body fighting off something. I would not really stress about it, but see a doctor and get a test to make sure. If you did contract herpes, yes it is certainly something you can manage yourself and is really not a big deal. But, you would/ should at least need to educate yourself on herpes so you don't spread it, etc.
