Continuous Recurrence?

Question:
Hi - Im new here & wonder if anyone might have a similar experience as mine. I got herpes a little under a year ago. For the first few months it wasn't too bad, but after my first recurrence it doesn't go away. Its been oover 6 months now. I have the bumps around my genital area & sometimes some light pain in the lower stomach. From what I've read, I've never seen anything saying herpes can be continuous. I started taking Valtrex about 3 weeks ago, but it doesn't seem to be helping much. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Thanks.

Answer:
hey...i have had a similar experience...i have had symptoms continuously since my first outbreak 8 months ago...even tho all doctors tell me that it doesnt look like herpes im pretty sure it is...im still trying to figure out my situation, ill let you know anything as soon as i do...but if u need someone to relate to feel free to pm me...emma

Answer:
Are you sure its not genital warts? Those dont go away usually, and look similar to herpes but dont hurt (you didnt mention if they hurt just that your abdomen hurts so just trying to help).

Answer:
Thanks for the responses. I'm not sure of anything but I don't think I have genital warts. I've been to a doctor who looked at what I have quickly and said its herpes. The bumps I have (whatever they are) have receded a bit so maybe the valtrex is working very slowly. I just don't know & I wish I could get better answers from doctors. They get paid pretty damn well to not really tell you much.

Emma, what have your doctors told you if they don't think you have herpes?

Answer:
hey...my doctor told me that i might have something called folliculitus or something that is an infection of the hair follicles...and to use a cortizone creme to see if they go away...and they havent...but i dont have this problem anywhere except my genitals...which is why it confuses me...and the bumps dont hurt...but they itch...although i have developed simialr bumps under my armpits...which my doctor just brushed off as razor burn...i have no idea what to do since they havent gone away...i have an apt. with my doctor in the next week so ill keep u updated

Answer:
I'm new here and I'm just starting to be more comfortable with the fact that I have herpes, even though I've had it for years now. I've had a very similar experience though. My outbreaks take a long time to go away if they go away at all. Usually they will but once they do some more come back. And mine don't hurt either, they just itch. I'm going to see my doctor pretty soon and I'm probably going to do more research on this stuff because I was surprised to see that this is irregular. I've never experienced any pain or burning sensations or anything like that. Interesting.
