Extremely paranoid
Question: Hey all, I hate to newb on in, and just make a post, but well, I'm sure everyone who posts in this forum acts the same way. I recently started having sex with my girlfriend. She lives a distance away, so we only see each other so much. The last time we had sex was 2 weeks ago this past Sunday. We had protected sex, but unprotected oral on both of us. This past Friday, a pimple appeared on my penis, on the right side, close to the base of the shaft. Hope against, I thought it was a pimple, and tried to pop it, with no luck. Yesterday, it dried up, fell off, and left a red mark which has faded a bit over the course of the day. Then a smaller pimple (white head) appeared on the top of my penis, right below the head. I then promptly went to my doctor, who put me on Valtrex to gauge if it is herpes. In 3 weeks, I'll be back for evaluation and blood tests. Now, research has shown one thing consistent with symptoms. The sores. The sores do not itch, do not hurt, and have not been pussing at all. But they're there. No discharge, no pain at all (well, pain when I tried to pop the first one... typical with pimples), no fever, no aches, no redness, no urination pain, and my lymph nodes don't hurt (doctor checked them out). Me? She's my first sexual partner, and just looked beautiful naked, with no sores, no marks, no cuts - nothing. I have had zero sexual contact before her. Her? I'm her third, and when she went to the OB/GYN in May, all negative. She hadn't had sex in about a year before me either. So.. what gives? A condom allergy 2 weeks after the fact? Bacterial infection? Acne? A side effect of starting to have sex? (I'm 25 btw, please don't laugh). Nothing like this has happened to me. I can't say 100% (obviously), but I'm sure she's not lying to me - it'd be a Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde type lie if it was. Based on what I've read, it's highly unlikely it is herpes, based on symptoms (one, and not typical of that symptom to boot), our sexual/testing history, and the pictures I've seen online don't match up(One word: Eww) as my two sores looks exactly like whiteheaded pimples. HOWEVER, the obvious answer is why I'm here. So what do you think? Did I leave anything out that would help your diagnosis? Thanks for the help you can give. Answer: If you only had oral unprotected, then if you had it at all it would most likely be type one. That kind won't look like some of the pictures you may have seen; it can be very mild. But I would think you would still have fever or aches/fatigue. Sounds like it isn't Herpes. But I am not sure what it would be? Answer: Hi Pittstime, welcome, no need to feel like you're "newb-ing" in :P that's what this site's here for! Glad you posted! I'd have to agree with Ross, I'd be very surprised it's Herpes with no itching, no aches, no nothing... but he does also have the point that it may not look like the pics. Most of the pics you see are very severe cases. mine first showed up looking like a pimple, but then it got very bad and starting to resemble some of those pics  getting treatment from your doctor right away may have kept it from getting that bad.... so basically, your best bet is to wait and see what your doctor thinks. If it IS herpes... your girlfriend more than likely isn't lying to you. Herpes isn't usually included in STD testing, alot of people go and ask their doctor to be tested for STD's and assume this includes Herpes, but most of the time it doesn't. most doctors feel that the tests can be very unreliable unless it's done on a culture of a sore. So 1, she may have never been tested for Herpes, and/or 2, she could have it and not experience any symptoms and not realize that she had something. Also, I'm not sure how much you have read by now, but maybe you already know that condoms don't protect from transmission of Herpes as well as other STD's... so I commend you on practicing 'safer' sex, but know that it is still possible to contract Herpes with condom use. Well, good luck, hopefully your doctor will have more answers for you next time you go. There's a lot of great support here if you need it. Answer: Wow, thanks for the quick replies. ross: That's the big question mark. If not herpes, then what? With all the wealth of info, there is no site with a page marked 'Can it be something else, and if so, what'? cindy: Well, I'm praying it doesn't get worse. I haven't started the meds yet.... my girlfriend is out right now, but I'm going to talk to her more... if it leans more into the herpes area to get her tested specifically for herpes if there is even a point with no sores. Only time will tell. Thanks again. Your posts are somewhat calming on me. :) Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
