Helpful info after exposure

Question:
Well, it's been 10 days now since I think I as infected. I can't say 100% I have this stuff, but I have had symptoms. I have yet to discuss it with my boyfriend due to the fact that I want to discuss it in person and have not had an opportunity yet. On day 3 after being intimate I had a sharp pain, like an instant urinary track infection. I immediatly took ibuprophen and drank lots of water. Well, that pain went away after a few minutes but in the days following I had tingling feelings and some discomfort, but nothing painful. Just enough strange feelings down there to make me research STD's on the net. This was the first time I had sex with my boyfriend so I was aware of the fact that it might be an STD. Anyway for about 5 days I had these tingling feelings and had fever on day 6 and 7 Anyway I was educating myself every night researching this virus. On day 7 I was convienced I had it so instead of researching the symptoms I started planning my attack against this thing. I found out what vitamins I should be taking and what foods to eat and what to avoid. I went to the store on day 7 and got Lysine and vitamin E. I already had Vit C, Garlic, and Acidophilus, which helps with yeast infections, they say can accompany this virus. I started taking them all immediately and stopped all caffeine, chocolate, nuts, the things they say to avoid. Well that was 3 days ago and I have not had a pain, tingle since or any visible signs yet. From the way this thing progesses I should be expecting sores any day now. But my body doesn't feel as if any thing is wrong anymore. I know I'm not out of the woods yet and this thing could still attack me but I am under the impression that I would be having itching tingling and pain before sores appear and all of that is now gone. All the info I have read says taking lysine can help greatly and watching your diet. My sister suffered from cold sores for years and about 20 years ago she stopped eating chocolate, nuts, and gelatin. Foods high in something that promotes these sores. So I am already a firm believer in changing my diet to help control this stuff. I am not sure how I am gonna give up chocolate just yet, but I will do anything to prevent this thing from any further discomfort at this point. I also know that if this is what I have I can't worry myself sick about it, that will only run my immune system down more. One of those "you can't cry over spilled milk" things. I am new at this but I highly recommend that those of you out there that are suffering from this to consider taking vitamins and better managing your diets along with the other treatmeant you may find helpful. I truly think doing so may have helped me change the course of this virus that is most likely in my system now.

Answer:
I was just wondering how you take the vitamins you bought. Is the vit. E for externally ir do you take it as well? Did you say: Garlic, vit E, vit. C and Lysine? How do you take the Lysine? I have searched but not been able to come up with what you have. Thank you so much!

Answer:
Well when I first started this journey 16 days ago I didnt start vitamins until 6 days after exposure. I have since read everything on the net about the subject. I started taking 1000 mg lysine 4 times a day plus was taking garlic, Vit C, Vit E (internally), and acidophilus. But in the last few days now I have added to my list of Vitamins and herbs- Echinaea-GoldenSeal Complex, Ginseng Complex, Grape Seed Plus and Viatamin B complex. I am only taking one pill of everything but the lysine a day. I'm not following the bottles recommendations. I figure getting a little bit of all of this in my system is good enough for now. I have to be honest with you I have never felt better in my life. I guess my body needed the vitamins really badly. I have more enegey than ever before, feel like running a marathon to get the energy out. I also started drinking Decaf green tea, no sugar added. I have read that you should take 4000mg of lysine at the first sign of symptoms and until sores are healed, it helps heal quicker, then you should back down to 1000mg to 1500mg dailly. Your diet can also help you get lysine as well, look for the web site with the foods you should eat and foods you should avoid, there is a list. I have still not had a sore or anymore symptoms since taking the vitamins. I highly recommend them. I got all of my vitamins from Wal-mart. They are the cheaper brand Spring Valley. However I must warn you I think my pee could glow in the dark. The good thing about the stuff I am taking is that what my body doesn't absorb it excretes through urine. So I'm not worried about overdosing on it. Let me know if you have any more questions. God Bless

Answer:
Thank you very much. I am going to try these. I had my first OB a couple weeks ago and was put on Valtrex. I have type 1 in the genital area. I am worried I my be getting an OB on my mouth now. I dont know, I have never had this before, I have to LEARN this virus and how my body reacts to it. I am still trying to learn what my body is telling me. I am interested in the foods. Do you know of any good sites? They say stay away from foods high in Ar??? and low in ???

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it!

There is actually another site with the lysine/ arginine ratio of a lot of foods I'll keep looking for it and post the address. My sister used to suffer from cold sores all the time 20 years ago. She completley quit eating all kind of nuts, chocolate, gelatin, coconut. She never ever cheats. And has not had a sore since. When we have events and she is gonna be there we make a dessert just for her without those ingredients. I have not figured out how I am gonna survive without chocolate but if it means not having an outbreak, I'll do without somehow. I too have avoided these foods and have not had a sore yet. Thank The Good Lord!

Answer:
OK, I am a little confused. So its OK to have Arganine (sp) just as long as the Lysine outweighs it? It says fish is good but then on the chart, it has alot in it! So do I eat it or not? :? I have to give up my chocolate, do I have to give up my strawberries too??

Oranges? They are bad? Very high in Arganine! I know it said dont eat them during outbreaks but can I have them otherwise?
Sorry, I am so confused!! :( :x
There is alot to learn!! Thank you for your help thus far.
