Please reply ASAP! freaking out!

Question:
Hi all,

I just found this site. Here's what is happening: On Saturday night I let a guy go down on me. The next day when I saw him, it looked very much like he had a cold sore on his mouth. I freaked out, because I had no idea and I hadn't seen anything that looked like a cold sore the previous night. I also wondered how it could just totally appear overnight. Maybe it wasn't a cold sore??

Anyway, I really worried the following day, but I put it aside because I wasn't going to know until I actually saw something, IF I had gotten it. Last night I felt some itching where my pubes are above my vagina. I normally shave the entire thing, and I had shaved that morning. I didn't think too much of it as the itching wasn't really intense (this was 3 days after my contact with this guy). This morning it still itched, and it's fairly itchy now, though not extremely so-I only think about it a lot because I'm worried about what it could mean. It also looks a little red in that area and perhaps like a few tiny tiny reddish bumps (this may only be because I was scratching it). They don't look like sores, they don't look like pimples, they aren't raised like molluscum (I've had molluscum before). They are hardly even visible to the naked eye or different from the rest of my vaginal skin area.

But of course I am totally freaking out because I noticed the cold sore (?) on his mouth only AFTER we'd done that, and I never would have if I had seen it, and I DID look at the guy's face and mouth before...Is it possible I am just blowing this itching out of proportion? Like maybe I started itching and then it still felt itchy because I had itched it? About how long will it be before I start to see more symptoms, if I did get it? In a day or so, would the red bumps get bigger and start looking more like sores? I don't have any burning, flu-like symptoms, or pain during urination.Should I go to the doctor? When should I go...if it gets worse?

PLEASE WRITE BACK. I AM A TOTAL BASKET CASE. I NEED HELP.

Answer:
Gonnabeanun - the best thing to do is not worry about it. Get booked into your local doctors and get tested. There is no point in worrying about it, what will be will be.
Then take hede from your experience. I was 18 when I contracted herpes and I hate it. The boy I slept with didn't tell me, and treated me like dirt afterward. So I have the infection and the reminder everytime I have the problem.

I hope everything works out for you. Take care.

D.
