pleez help :( ive made such a big mistake.. is this true?if

Question:
hello

i am so stressed out. caught some kind of herpes from kissing a guy with a coldsore (which i didnt see until afterwards).

Logged onto this website. i can tell you i was terrified after reading about how horrific H is. . and all the painful outbreaks! i felt like i wanted to die. so i waited for coldsores to come out. .

little blisters appeared around the corner of my mouth. stuck some different stuff on them and then finally got some zovirax.. my skin remained tingly and i was terrified.

but coldsores never developed really..but the small blisters lasted 2 weeks.

I heard that your first outbreak is worst. Is this true?

Does this mean every time i get an outbreak it'll be like this time?

How often will i get an outbreak?

anyway i seem to have a developed a rash all over my legs.. like small red pimples. i also have a red spot on my bottom cheek.

I am terrified that ive spread it down there.

Can someone please give your opinions. do you think ive spread it?
im only 17 and im getting sseriously depressed. .

only got infected 2 weeks ago.. biggest regret of my life

lisa

Answer:
Lisa,

Your best bet is to see a doctor about whatever it is on your legs. Herpes sores (both variaties) are usually itchy, red, and bumpy (like pimples and a rash all in one).

When you see the doctor, ask him/her to do a swab AND a bloodtest so you know what type it is. Read all the information about it to help you battle the outbreaks and to minimize the chances of giving it to someone else.

I've had type one herpies on my mouth since adolescence. I never made out with anyone when I had it and, as far as I know, never passed it on. Never make out with anyone if you feel the tingling, itching, or pounding (with heartbeats) under the skin - the virus is coming to the surface at that time. And wait a few days (or more) after the sores heal to make out with someone. Oh, and most importantly, ask your doctor about shedding - the virus can still be active even if you have no symptoms (sores) for the first year after one is initially infected.

Lisa, this won't kill you or your social life. There's plenty of medications that can help control the outbreaks, and plenty of guys that will still want to make out with you when you arn't breaking out. Trust me, I know from experience >;')

Just remember this guy who kissed you when he was infectious - and don't EVER do that to someone else - and remember that there are people out there that are willing to have sex when they're breaking out with type two... and that's the worst of the two types of herpes. Be monogamous and play it safe. Oh, and be wary of tanning booths and public toilets... I was recently infected (though sexually inactive for months) on my arse, and I'm not gay.

If you want to talk about it, there's a whole community of people here willing to listen and give advise. 8)

Thanks for ur advice :?

but i really cant face going to the doctor at the minute. i havent told my folks about it yet either...

do you know if you can spread h to other parts through your saliva like for the rest of your life, even if you dont have active h?

Answer:
Lisa,

You really ought to see a doctor - you need to know what type (1 or 2) of herpies you have, or if you even have herpies at all - for your sake and for others you will encounter in your life.

As to your parents - reality: 1 in 4 people in North America HAS herpies. So, if you were to make a list of twenty friends you have and I can almost guarantee that 5 of them have herpies 1 or 2. Normal, healthy, attractive people get cold sores - it's a fact of life. Your parents probably know (and like) someone with coldsores, so why would they diss their own daughter over something one-fourth of the population of America already has?

For all they have to know, you shared a soda or a slush with someone that had a coldsore...

It sucks to tell parents you aren't perfect. And it sucks to have a virus that will visit you from time to time throughout your life (but sometimes people only have a few outbreaks then it goes away forever). But you really should know what type you have, and what you can do to prevent yourself from recurrances and giving it to others.

It's just a coldsore. And yours doesn't sound so bad (some people have it all over their lips, in their nose, etc). Cheer up!

But see a doctor, for your sake and others', k?

Take some comfort in that. I know I did.

Take some comfort in that. I know I did. And how do you know that? Not trying to be a smartass or anything, just want to know how/ where you found that out.
