Question:
So I am curious. What is the most accurate test for herpes that you can get, and how much does it cost?

I had the swab test done but I had had an outbreak for more than 48hours so im not sure if its going to come back accurate or not. Plus the sore that he rubbed the swab on was pretty much dried out and scabbing over. Why he picked that one and not the one that was oozing is beyond me. Will the test still come back accurate?

UGHh im not feeling very trusting in my doctor. First time I go in, hes telling me that I just have razer burn. 5 days later I go back in because my symptoms are worse from the 'treatment' that he told me to go with at the time.

He told me nothing about this disease. Basically told me that it looked like I had herpes, gave me a swab test, and charged me 150 bucks and gave me a 3 day supply of Valtrex samples.

In a nutshell I dont think he knows much about herpes or what hes doing. What type of doctor would be best for this damn virus?

The guy that I believe 100% gave this to me is in denial and has shown NO symptoms ever. I am the only one hes been with in 4 years other than his ex gf.

He says that hes been tested for herpes via a blood test but Im not really sure if he has been, because he comes across as being in denial. I 100% believe that he thought he was clean, as he is a really good guy and hes my best friend and will always be my best friend if nothing more.

But!!

I was a virgin and hadnt even kissed anyone for YEARS until him and then suddenly all of this shows up after we hook up? It has to be him...but why isnt it showing up on his tests?

He still believes hes clean because his tests came back negative a month or so ago.

How accurate are the blood tests? Should he wait a specific time period to get one? Since he has no symptoms I almost feel like he was given this virus recently and they didnt show up in the blood tests if they really did test him for herpes. Should he wait a couple more months, or should he wait for an outbreak? Jeez this is kind of stressful. I really do worry about him. Hes really not taking any of this good at all.

Now for a twist:

I had the swab done. My way of dealing with it at the moment is sort of a denial stage as well. I know that its most likely true that I have this damned virus but I feel like I need to get another test somewhere else just to make sure. I just dont want to accept it yet I guess on one level but then on another level im saying well I cant do anything about it but take care of myself and hope that it doesnt give me much of a problem.

My question is: How accurate are the swab tests and are there normally false positives?

Please...anyone that is knowledgeable about any of this help me. I am frantically searching online but I have literally worn myself down researching and learning all that I could in the past few days.
