Question:
I don't know if I have herpes as my Doctor has referred me to a specialist who I see next week, but he thinks I have from a visual examination. From looking on the net I think that I may have caught herpes virus hominis. I have some small red spots(12-15) on my chest in a 25mm diameter circle. No other symptoms. What I don't get is the last time I had some fun was in Sept 04. Can it take that long to show up? If it is herpes and it comes back, does it always come to the same place or will it go lips etc. I have no other symptoms.

There are several types of herpes, not just HSV1 and HSV2. And herpes isn't always transmitted sexually. Did your doctor say which type of herpes he thought it was? In light of the fact that the red spots are on your chest, it seems unlikely that it's HSV1 or HSV2.

I don't know too much about herpes other than HSV1 and HSV2, but not all types of herpes are recurrent. If they are recurrent the outbreaks will usually be in the same spot, or the same general area, when it's HSV1 or HSV2.
By the way: yes, it can take that long after contamination to show up. But I doubt that you got this from sex, because of the weird location.
