really confused...
Question: Well I am a newbie to this site... Last friday I went in to get a culture and blood test to see if I have herpes. I am still waiting for the test results to come back. The doctor said it looked to be Herpes and she gave me Valtrex to start taking. I have really enjoyed reading everyones posts. It has really helped me learn more about this thing. I guess that is what is driving me crazy is not being able to ever know how this ever really happened. O.K.... My experience. Two weeks ago I started dating this guy after not dating anyone for a year after my ex-boyfriend and I broke-up. I was tested for all the normal STD's at my last obgyn annual visit (always have tests run - a little paranoid) six months ago and a couple of months before that I got a new life ins policy and they run every test under the sun. I came back clean on everything. However don't know if Herpes is a test they run. O.k. about the guy I just started dating. He has been with the same girl for the last five years and they broke up 3 months ago and he hasn't seen anyone else. The ex-girlfriend did give him oral sex one week exactly before we got together. After discussing our sex history we decided it would be O.K. to have unprotected sex since I was on BC. 5 days after we first had sex, we both got a couple of bumps and I woke up with swollen glands and a sore throat. A couple of days later he had the sore throat also. At first we thought it was razor burn because all we had was more scabs never any watery blister looking things. So I went to the doctor exactly one week after the bumbs started. When she said they looked like Herpes, I called him and told him that it didn't look good and I suggested that he get looked at also. I went with him to the doctor appointment. My doctor and his doctor both said that it looked like a primary outbreak because of all the multiple location of the bumps. That if it was a reoccurence we would probably just have the bumps on one spot. So currently we are both taking antivirals and kicking ourselves in the ass. He feels like shit because he thinks maybe his ex might have lied to him and been with someone else. He wants to call her but I don't because then that would mean someone else knows... I feel like shit because I have been with more people than him and statistically speaking I have a higher change of coming into contact with the virus than him and I wonder if the virus has been laying dormant in my system, but why would I have an outbreak now. We just don't know!! how the hell this is possible???? Great way to start a relationship :) The weird thing is that neither one of us have ever had any symptoms of herpes and we break out on the same day with an initial outbreak? Very confused! At least we have each other to talk to about this instead of being totally alone. Answer: guurrrll!! that is crazy...im new to this...tho im thinking best bet is to wait for the results and then you do need to tell your ex and he needs to tell his...just so they know. it came from somewhere... Answer: thanks for the reply. My doctor said she should have the results back today.... fingers crossed and wishing for good news. Answer: So my boyfriend got his results back. Positive for type 1. The sad part is that is good news... My doctor's assist called today to schedule an appointment to go over my test results. I started panicing thinking of how bad the news must be if I need to be told in person. Then the Dr. assist told me that it is just the Dr policy that she doesn't discuss any test results over the phone. So I have an appt tomorrow. The waiting is killing me I rather just know now! Answer: well....yea...waiting sux...but type 1 isn't suppose to be as bad as type 2. let me know how your results came back... Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
