I had a cold sore starting on tuesday march 29 and ofcourse I did not know what it was. I turned to my mother in the car and she looked at my lip and said "yup! its a cold sore..." I started using ViraMedX on my cold sore and it semi-disappeared. One morning I took out my retainers and used the bathroom WITHOUT washing my hands. I KNOW my cold sore was still "shedding" because there was no skin covering it yet. Long story short It burned when I peed, I had fullness in my stomach, my legs were sore, my vagina burned and I felt nauseous ALL THE TIME (more than usual because I get carsick very easily and I felt like I was carsick all day) Anyway after going online and realizing that I auto-innoculated myself I cried for approxametely 30seconds then felt bad for my boyfriend who I feel is my soulmate. I worried that he would not be intrested in being intimate with me even though he is very understanding. I hope that he understands when the time comes because I don't think I could stand to have him mad at me and never want to speak to me. My first "OB" was mild and I'm wondering if HSV-1 usually creates less severe outbreaks?. I have a strong immune system and my OB is completely over after 3 days.

I have type 1 as well. Got it from my husbands cold sore during oral sex. It doesnt break out often and when it doesn I only get one bump and I'm calling the doc for meds. My last outbreak was 2 and a half years after the previous one. Just keep yourself healthy and start taking some immune boosting vitamans..

Did your bump turn into a blister and then scab, or did it stay in the bump stage? And have you only had that one reoccurance?

Well the first outbreak was horrible..I had them all over..from front to back. The very next morning after we had sex. And yeah..those dried up and flaked off. But the ones I get with my outbreaks when I get them..dont always break open..and they just seem to dwindle down to nothing. They dont really dry up..just shrink and disappear.
Since my initial outbreak..i've had...i'm thinking 4. It was 5 years ago when I got it.. the first ob came 7 mos after the initial ob. Then the next was like a year. Then I went 2 and a half years without one until this Jan. Then at the beginning of March..my son braught home a bug from school and I got a really bad sinus infection..broke out again. So after 2 adn a half years with nothing..I got 2 obs within a month and a half...but that was cause my immune system was low from being sick. And they werent that bad...like I said..one bump and it was small. I mean dont get me wrong..they are irritating..but NOTHING like the first ob. My first ob I was really sick and just exhausted. But..I was 6 mos preg with our second son when it happened..so it made it harder on me. My legs hurts..all my glands hurt. Was terrible.

I have HSV-1 as well and I got it from oral sex with my husband. He had a cold sore on his lip too. I just got over my first OB about 2 weeks ago. I could not believe how bad it hurt. I have had to deal with a lot of painful things in my life but this was bad. I hope that I dont get another OB for a long long time.

It amazes me how many people I know that have hsv because of a cold sore on their spouse/partners mouth. You think that with a large number of infections do to this specifically..they would educate more people about it at an early age.
and yes..it will get better. I have very few outbreaks..and they are very minor.

I wouldn't lose too much sleep over HSV1.

I know two comfirmed people(large recurrent sores at the edge of their lips) at my office who has and dozens of other suspects working with me. And my own damn parents have it and I probably had it from a very young age though I've never had a cold sore.

When GSK was testing herpes vaccine they had to go all the way down to 10 ~ 13 age bracket to find girls who were HSV1 & 2 negative LOL :lol:

That just shows how prevalent HSV1 is.
