I was just diagnosed last week, no tests, just visually diagnosed by doctor. I've been with my current boyfriend exclusively for the past six years and was shocked to find that I had herpes. We've discussed it and he is going to be tested. I hope very much that he doesn't have it. I would rather that only one of us suffers this pain. I'm so sad and worried. I can't stop reading everything there is on herpes, which is a good thing but I'm overly obsessive about it. I'm just plain scared and cannot even think about having sex any time soon.

Continue to gather as much information as you can. It gives you a positive productive way to deal with what's going on....and you may learn some helpful information. Did you have a type specific blood test??Goodgirl

Thanks Goodgirl for responsing to my post, I feel so alone. But in regard to your question, my doctor simply looked at my sores (which were healing) and said they were herpes, gave me Valtrex and said that we couldn't do any tests until I had another outbreak. But, I have decided to go on suppresive therapy right now and I'm assuming I won't have a breakout until I stop. true?!

Also, for anyone else reading, I'm having terrible headaches right now. I'm not really sure whether they're from stress (probably) but the headaches are kinda stronger than I'm use to. If it is the Valtrex, will these go away over time.

My name is Christi. I don't have much time to give you some constructive advise at the moment but please spend some time reading through the previous posts and replies and I'm sure you'll get a lot from them. Can you please also have a look at the message I posted on this forum re terrible headaches that I have also been getting and tell me if what you are getting is similar? I have desperately been searching for answers to my headache problem and I have been wondering if it is linked to herpes and I would be curious as to what kind of pain you are getting.
