HSV
Question: I ve been told by everyone i talk to, hotlines included that is sounds like i have HSV, i think thats the right letters for genital warts, is this totlaly harmless? from what ive read if ur gonna get an std or whatever this is the best one to get cuz it doenst do any damage, doesnt hurt you and it eventually goes away, is this right? I go to the urologist tomorrow, but this has been bothering me so much i went from 2 bumps to like 9 on me since last july and i can see more starting to form, although my gf hasnt shown any signs of anything i have, and ive ben with her 2 yrs, i posted my whole story a few posts down but im still very worried, thanks for any help or advice in advance Answer: Well......not exactly, HPV is the initials for genital warts. I was diagnosed about 7 years ago with it and in my experience, it is very common. i think I now have another small wart down there but its my first one since the initial one. Unfortunately, its a virus and you carry it forever even if you show no physical signs. When you do have physical signs, you are very contagious. It is pretty much painless from what I can tell but is not harmless. It can be a cause of cervical cancer in women if left undetected or untreated. You will need to tell your gf and she needs to be looked at if you had sex with her anytime around when you noticed your symptoms. Good luck! Answer: Well I know i had to get it from her but shes had that checked before rather recently and she was fine and has never shown a sign of anything. how did they diagnose you? Visually? Blood test? What kinda symptoms have you had? Answer: Women can rarelt know if they have it - they don't test for it without a very good reason. I was exposed to warts and had to beg my doc to do a specific test. Everyone has a type of HPV. The type that causes warts does not cause cancer. They are different strains - there are also strains that go undetected because they are harmless. Don't blame your girlfriend - she may not know she has it - may not have it - may just be a carrier. Answer: Well, I just got back from the Urologist and he looked at me and said that he doesn't think that it is genital warts, he thinks they are cysts, he told me that they can just appear for pretty much no reason and sometimes go away on their own or sometimes stay forever, so I asked him twice, So you don't think it's warts? He again said no but to put your mind at ease, i'll cut a piece of one of the bumps off and send it to get checked but I don't think it's warts and he told me that he'll just burn the rest off, so I guess that's very good news for me, I'm not gonna try to get my hopes up until I know for 100% sure, but I do feel alot better.
