PAIN!! is it from herpes??

Question:
ok.

i've been on this site before, and pretty much determined that the problem i thought i was having wasn't herpes. i know that i've had herpes 1 (cold sores) since i was very young(prob got it from something like chewing on a pen, since such a huge majority of the population have it). when i was checked out by my obgyn, she didn't see anything that worried her...i think i was being a bit of a hypochondriac. BUT, now i'm worried again. here's what's happening...

i've been dating this great guy for the past 3 months. about a month ago, i started experiencing pain during penetration. it started off pretty mild - i just ignored it. it got progressively worse. it went from a minor annoyance, to me having to breath deep to get through the first minute of sex, and then it hurt so bad i couldn't even let him enter me. we went about 12 days w/o having sex to see if something needed to heal. after the 12 days i was able to let him enter me, but the same thing with the deep breathing, and the pain was pretty significant. the weird thing is, if i can get past that first minute, i'm fine. it doesn't hurt at all, though it does hurt the day after. and it's not a normal "sex" pain, if you know what i mean. it's unlike anything i've ever felt. it feels like something inside of me is ripping! my boyfriend is pretty big, but not that big! and if his size was the problem, it would've started right when we started having sex, which it didn't.

what the hell could this be? it's been a progressive thing for about the past month, maybe longer. could it be herpes? i know it's always possible that i tore something badly, or have a cyst or god knows what else. i'm just trying to cover all possible areas.

please please help if you have ANY input or ideas. thank you so so much!!

Answer:
I do not have the answers for you. I have always had an issue with pain and sex. I hope someone replies to you. But I was hoping that maybe when you get your answer if you could help me out with my questions. I have H1 cold sores. But have nto ahd another outbreak. And you said that you had the same H1 cold sores. How do you know when you are going to have an outbreak. Or do you think when you have tingling sensation on your face or lips that that is a sign of invisible shedding? Also I have been getting sick a lot lately. Fever and cold. and I am getting over something like a flu. But no outbreaks. Before I got diagnosed I would never get sick... Any input?

Answer:
well, i went to my obgyn. she said that i have a yeast infection that never completely went away (gross, i know, but hey. we're females). she said that some women develop some sort of infection around the base of the vagina after yeast infections, which explains why it feels like my skin is being ripped open during sex. like i said, this isn't a normal sex pain. so, she gave me a pill for the yeastie-veastie, and a steroid cream that i have to apply for the next few weeks. if that doesn't work, then i'll change my diet. she specifically mentioned that it didn't look like herpes or any other std, even though i didn't ask her if that's what it was. i've never been to this obgyn before, so she had no way of knowing i would want to know that.
as for knowing when i'm about to get a coldsore, i don't know what to tell you - sorry! i've had it for so long and never really though much of it. i haven't had one for probably at least 2 years (which probably means i'm due). because you have herpes 1, you can get a prescription for valtrex or something like it from your doctor. i told my doctor that i wanted a prescription to deal with any future OBs (i kinda lied and said i had one then) and i got a crap-load of pills from her. so, if i ever get paranoid or think my lips tingling, i take one (which doesn't happen terribly often, the pills i have will last me years). from what i've read, the tingling is a sign of shedding, yes. so just be careful. and remember that something like 80-90% of all the population has already been exposed to herpes 1. anyone who's ever had a cold sore has it! just DO NOT touch yourself or anyone else down south w/o washing your hands if you have a cold sore. don't want to transfer this wonderful thing to the netherlands.
as for getting sick, i don't know about that, either. if it worries you, talk to your doctor, or maybe even take some immune system vitamins. cats claw is strongly recommended for combatting herpes on this site, and it is a great vitamin for the immune system. try it out!
good luck!!
