Loopers (as in loop sampling, not bypassing)

Question:
So I use a looper on occasion just to practice or to get down different song ideas....
Anyway, I recently sold my boss RC-20 b/c I was going to get the new Digitech jamman, however I hated it, it made everything sound 'digital' and just took the mojo from my tone... do you know what I mean?
So I didn't get it, I really wanted something that sounded good. So I think I may go try the Boss RC-20XL, because overall, the tone of the RC-20 wasn't too bad, but on HC, most say that the Digitech sounds better. Do any of you have experience with loopers you would recomend?
Right now, I am thinking that I may get another DL-4 for two reasons:
1) I love the tone of the looper, it may not be crystal clear to what you recorded, but it sounds warm and analoge, not sterile
2) Since I don't use it a whole heck of a lot (almost never in a live setting, NEVER with a band) it would be nice to be able to use the additional delay settings when I'm not looping. (I currently own a DL-4 and it seems I am always rotating through about 5 different settings)
The only negatives to this is the 14 second capability (not the biggest deal) but the fact that I can't save the loop (not even one) is kinda difficult to swallow....
any ideas?
Answer:
Really not sure what i would do if i was you. I am sure having the second delay would be nice, but the 14 second loop is not to big if you want a bigger loop. I might go back with what you had to begin with, if you liked. I am don't have that much knowledge on loopers so i might have to go do some searching to see if i can turn up something that you haven't ran across yet.
Answer:
I would ay go back with what you had. If it ain't broken, don't fix it
Answer:
Well, I would at least upgrade to the RC-20XL, to get the extra time and the 'UNDO' feature, but it is tough for me to sink $250 in a pedal that I will only use 5% of my playing time...
Answer:
Eric Johnson was claimed to have stated that it's the little things that make the biggest difference. I know that, for me personally, the looper is an excellent practice tool, as well as adding options for a live setting. Seems justified to me.

The jamman does have better sound quality and can hold a heck of a lot more info. But if you didn't like it, then that's fine. I have both the RC-20XL and DL-4 and let me tell you, it might be difficult to move from minutes of loop time to just 15 seconds. If it's just for practice, then I would definitely go with the new Boss. That's what I use it for too...it's never in my signal chain when I play out because it sucks the life right out of my tone.
