Effects Board??? Any recommendations
Question: Hello all. I am in need of a recommendation for a pedal board for 5-10 pedals. Preferably one with a power source that can be transported without any problems while protecting everything. Something like a hardcase. Answer: Tour Master Cases Answer: You could try making your own. Several of us on here have made our own, in various ways, using Goodwill-purchased hard suitcases, plywood and felt or other fabric covering. Mine = plywood sheet (24" x 18"), with additional 4" strip of plywood added flat against back/bottom of board to make it lean slightly toward me; covered in black felt from Wal-Mart; pedals stick to it great with velcro from Wal-Mart; regular power strip with One Spot daisy chain attached at top; padded inside of suitcase with eggshell foam. Cost about $28.00 total, took one night to complete. If you have even the most marginal craft-type skills, it is something to consider. Answer: Most higher end pedal boards don't have internal power supplies, as it dampens flexibility and such. Many internal supplies also don't give the cleanest power either. I would reccommend finding an external source, (think Voodoo Lab Pedal Power) or daisy chain? As for builders, I highly suggest nycpedalboards.com Mike builds an excellent board with countless varities to choose from at IMO, some pretty crazy prices. Look at the standard Gigman. Some people find the direct pedal to board to floor thing a bit of a deterrant, but I don't see it as an issue. Also, for something a bit different try, trailertrashpedalboards.com Answer: Yep, I say make your own. A LOT cheaper, but not as high quality, but you can choose how many pedals it can hold by how big of a suitcase you buy from goodwill . I did that. It obviosly doesn't come with a power supply, but you can buy a 1spot adapter or something like that for cheap. Edit: [IMG]here is a pic of mine. in a page back or two you sohuld find a better pic of mine Answer: I've built a few, but never got anything I was completely 100% happy with. I've currently got a SKB PS35 that I use just for the pedal board. I use a Pedal Power 2 for power, and couldn't see myself using anything else. I did the daisy chain thing for a while, and had all sorts of problems with different pedals. If I had more money to spend I would have bought a Pedaltrain, but I just couldn't make myself justify the extra money for it. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
