Jekyll & Hyde Ultimate Overdrive
Question: Ok, i am still looking around for a pedal, i have really been thinking of the Boss DS-1, then browsing threw Guitare World Mag. i found the Jekyll and Hyde. It looks like a good deal, but i have never played it. Choices from sharp to blunt distortion or overdrive, it sounds pretty sweet, anybody played it? Comparable to a DS-1? Answer: It's absolutely not comparable to the DS-1. Answer: The J&H is a great choice for the money. Boost to over the top in one pedal. Both sides sound good to me, plus it sounds good through my tube amp and my solid state amp. Answer: Originally Posted by Keith L The J&H is a great choice for the money. Answer: ...and you have what amp again? For the record, you get what you pay for with a DS-1... not much. Answer: Ds 1 can be good fi you mod it but if you want it stock dont get it. If I was to get it it would be the last pedal I ever bought and I would mod it just for fun. Be one of those random gear things a tool lying round in my room. I was checking out the Jekyll and Hyde but since GC didnt have it and I wanted to play it before i didnt get it so I got the TS9DX. So if you get teh jekyl and hide let me know and what you think of it so i can see if i wasted my money on my pedal.{witch i dont think i did} Answer: Originally Posted by earlessdog as in its better than the ds-1? As in it doesn't compare. Different sounds. The J&H could be described by many as "more pleasant", if that's what you're going for. DS-1 is a generic distortion. Good for sounding like a DS-1, and hey, it's cheap. Answer: Originally Posted by Rainer. As in it doesn't compare. Different sounds. Honestly, comparing a DS-1 to a J&H is like comparing a McDonalds hamburger to fancy filet mignon. they're both beef, but one is more expensive because it's just better all around. But sometimes I like McDonalds... Sorry, I listen to too much Nirvana, I like noisy. Answer: I said: Every great effect in the world through a crappy amp will still sound bad. Save up for a new amp. Answer: The J & H is a great sounding pedal. It takes a while to find the settings you're looking for, but it's definately worth it. My problem is that my guitar gives it a very thrasy sound. Answer: Yeah, its not hard to find good sounding tone out of it, but relize it doesn't get very hard if thats what you were looking for. I mean, it can get pretty heavy, but not like nu-metal or anything Answer: Originally Posted by jamforchrist123 Yeah, its not hard to find good sounding tone out of it, but relize it doesn't get very hard if thats what you were looking for. I mean, it can get pretty heavy, but not like nu-metal or anything eh..i think you could tweak it to nu-metal. turn the EQ all the way to the left and you've completely scooped the mids. then just turn the drive up some and you're good to go. Answer: I guess you could, but I guess not my description of nu-metal. I was thinking more crunch. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
