I was looking for a (very) cheap delay to complete my borad...
Question: and I found this . The only thing it says its slap echo. What exactly does that mean? Is it just a normal delay, or is slap different than normal? Answer: Ive heard clips of it on the danelectro website. It sounds good, but seems to be more like a reverby echo, rather than a multi second delay. Answer: It means it is very quick. You cant change the delay rate. My opinion is that a great delay is worth the money, tho. Answer: well, I can't spent any more than like 30 bucks on a delay since all of the other money is going to more importent things Answer: your only hope is finding a ridiculous deal. My experience with delays says that you get what you pay for. Slap delay is actually pretty self-defining. Think of the old Johnny Cash songs with the tele and the reverby echo. It's a very short delay that sounds like your sound has hit a wall and "Slaps" right back. Very typical of older and vintage-sounding country music. Answer: also, I think it's hilarious that the list price is $10.00 and they have it crossed out because they're giving it to you for the amazing deal of $14.95! Answer: Ok, after hearing it, I decided since I am getting the footswitch for my amp, I will just keep the effects on delay, and I will get the flanger instead, since I could use a flanger. Sorry about that Answer: NO! THIS IS NOT A DELAY! Dano FAB effects are crap, IMO. I bought the Dano PB&J delay and its THE best delay for the money...it can act as a reverb as well. I got it for $40 on ebay. Hoorah for ebay! Answer: the best compared to what? what other delays have you played extensively and decided that the dan-o was better? Answer: Originally Posted by Casey the best compared to what? what other delays have you played extensively and decided that the dan-o was better? I like my roland sde 2500 for lush delays... I find delay to be my main effect I use, much more important to me than any other effect. In fact, its usually my only effect I use, which may explain why my rack has 2 delay units on it. You get what you pay for with delay, plus, one or two good effects are much better than tons of tone sucking crap ones. Answer: Originally Posted by Casey the best compared to what? what other delays have you played extensively and decided that the dan-o was better? I second that. I promise you that my diamond memory lane is a better delay in every aspect Answer: well, how many other delays can you get for under $40? The PB&J has a pretty good reputation on the web for a cheap, short to medium length delay. In my experience, a delay is a delay and it's probably useable too. I'd like one of these (and a PB&J and a billion others). That said, you got the flanger yes? Post a review and let us know how it is! Answer: Originally Posted by SoapbarII NO! THIS IS NOT A DELAY! Hoorah for ebay! the PB&J is a great delay...it'd be even better with a tap tempo function, but it doesn't have it. Is it the best? no way...but it's dang good. That being said, I've tested the FAB OD, and it's simple, but it's not "crap"...that's just my opinion, sure. It's not a super thick OD by any means. It's really great for generating light to mid level OD though. Answer: My apologies, I kinda ripped on you without paying attention that you said "for the money." but my point still stands. Get what you pay for in terms of delays. Answer: Originally Posted by Casey My apologies, I kinda ripped on you without paying attention that you said "for the money." but my point still stands. Get what you pay for in terms of delays. eh...yes and no...Honestly, the PB&J is featureless, but it sounds better than any other sub-$100 delay I've heard. After a point, you're paying more for features than for tone. My DD-5 costs about twice as much as a PB&J, but the tone isn't twice as good, the DD-5 actually has a bit thinner tone than my PB&J, but it's much more functional (because of tap tempo).
