Must have effects

Question:
Okay I'm updating my setup, and kind of gettin rid of the crap I don't need. None of my effects are to my liking, so I'm selling them all. Now.. what, in your opinion are the most crucial effects in your rig? I'll definatly be looking for a Wah pedal, and some sort of overdrive. Not a distortion, but something to use infront of a dirty amp for leads and such. I was looking at maybe getting the Zakk Wylde Wah, and then like a Boss Overdrive or somethin. Anyways.. 2 or 3 of your must have pedals? Reasons, maybe a review of them, how much they cost, ect. Thanks.
Answer:
Heya,
If you could call compression an "effect", I'd definately say compression. As far as actual suggestion, I don't have any. I've only used one pedal (Digitech Compressor/Sustain), so I obviously have no idea how it compares to other brands.
Answer:
What is a compression pedal?
Answer:
my three "must have" pedals are...
Boss DD-5 Digital Delay
Visual Sound Jekyll and Hyde Overdrive
Boss TU-2 Tuner
another effect (to have three effects) would be a wah pedal...but find one to your liking.

It squishes the signal, boosting the quiet bits and bringing down the loud bits, so you get more even string balence across the fretboard. You can also use it for a clean boost, or to make your guitar sound more punchy... and there's probably more. I don't own one, so I'm not sure.
I only have two effects, a Line 6 Echo Park delay and a Crybaby 535q Wah. I can't live without my delay, I absolutely love it. And wah and delay combine really nicely.
If you're gonna get an overdrive, I support Mr. theSteve's suggestion of Visual Sound Jekyll and Hyde.

Answer:
For me, it's my Echo Park. And if I ever get a Jekyll and Hyde, that too.
I could live quite happily without my TS-7.
Answer:
If you're looking for overdrive, I would suggest the Rt. 66 over the J&H b/c of the fact that it includes a compressor and overdrive, and both channels sound wonderful. Jerry McPherson recomends the Rt. 66 as one of his "must have" pedals on his interview on playlikeapro.com
Answer:
Ok, I'll look int the J&H overdrive.. not sure about what wah I want yet. And I was really thinking about getting a delay pedal. I've heard alot of good things about the echo park. I'll have to check it out.
Could someone post a clip of like.. a clean guitar with/without a compression pedal?
Answer:
I heard that the Zakk Wylde distortion isn't that good. Quite frankly, I didn't think Randy Rhoad's tone was that good either.
Answer:
You NEED an EQ (Boss and Dano make great 7 band eq's)
Distortion (Digitech has the widest selection, any type of distortion, they have it...if you got the money get a Boss Distortion processor twin pedal)
From there my preference would be to buy a cheap multi effects (i.e., Digitech RP-100 or RP-200.)
If ^ isnt for you, then I'd recommend a Boss PH-3 Phase Shifter along with a Digidelay (Digitech). if you have the money, get a Line 6 Delay processor (4 button), one word: WICKED!
And wah pedals...well...Dunlop hands down. Anything with Hendrix in the name.

I'm not too sure about this. I would steer clear of Digitech, both single-pedal stuff and multi effects. Some of it's ok, but you can do better for not a whole lot more cash.

-Nick Id agree with this. Digitech has failed to impress me and arent that cheap. Id suggest Boss or Line 6.
Answer:
Well its just preference. Digitech is just something that I like to use because, for me, its easy to learn to use.
Answer:
Well I've really like Boss Pedals. They seem to have the best sound and the best durability. Cost a little more but I think it's worth it.
Answer:
I'd go with Boss DS-1 or BD-2, Line 6 DL4 or Boss DD-5, and Ibanez AD-9 or DE-7. Yes, I love delays
