what pedals are used to make these effects?
Question: This is a video of Howie Day on the Craige Kilborn show. What is really interesting is how he creates that sounds with just a guitar and some pedals. If I wanted to reproduce something similar what would I need? Is it just a bunch of delay pedals and an ebow? If I wanted to reproduce something similar what would I need? Is it just a bunch of delay pedals and an ebow? Ghost It seems to me that his main pedal to create that sound/looping is a Line 6 DL-4. Other than that it looks like he also has a couple Boss digital delay pedals there, one for vocal effect and the other one for the guitar. Answer: He's using an Ebow for the long sustained notes. And sampling-delays for the rest. Maybe a chorus for the strummy part. Answer: All it is a DL-4 and E-bow. The DL-4 has a delay built in the loop function so you can set those delay times that he has going on for the guitar percussion and the delay through the Ebow parts as well. As he plays the guitar, the delay function is also working but all you need to do is turn down the repeats of the delay and it won't sound too muddy. I really like the vocal sampling action that's going on...you can see him working the tap tempo function throughout the entire chorus. Very cool. Anyone know what that unit is?? Answer: I wonder what type of pickup he has installed where he can use the ebow that effectively. I cant get my ebow that loud on my acoustic. I guess he has a magnetic pickup somwhere in there. And hes jamming on a tak. Answer: that's a great vid Answer: http://www.hdaee.f2s.com/v2/rig.htm His pedalboard. Answer: Gosh, how many delays do you need? Answer: More of the same but with a R&B feel. Yeah Loops Answer: This guy is really having fun with his loops. My Echo Park is great, but I'd like another one, and a looper. Just for doing experimental stuff. Of course, this is wishful thinking, on my budget... -Nick Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
