Footswitches

Question:
Well, today I was thinking thatsince I really do like amp's OD, and it would relaly be nice to be able to switch from clean to OD without using my toes, so I just figured I would buy a footswitch for my amp instead of a whole new amp (for now anyway ) Anyway, will I need to buy the vox foot switch, or is can I just use pretty much any footswitch, which I could probably get cheaper?
Answer:
Oh never mind. It is only $25.
Answer:
You can get any standard two-button footswitch with a 1/4" TRS plug. I used a generic one for my Vox.
Answer:
... why two buttons?
Answer:
The amp needs two buttons I assume
Answer:
Why? If it's just for switching channels, it should only need one.
Answer:
Well he said Vox and any Vox I've played other than some of the high-end modeling ones uses the VSF-25 or something similar to that model number. It's two buttons. That and all of theirs I've seen have channel switching and either reverb or effect switching as well.
Answer:
Channel switching/drive-more drive? Possibly?
Answer:
Not on a Vox, no.
Answer:
I am pretty sure (for my amp) you can choose (for the first switch) for it to go beetwen the 2 channels, or beetween manual and preset mode. The second is for the effects bypass.
Answer:
What amp is it? If the footswitch is only 25 bucks then I know what switch you're talking about and it's not possible for each button to have more than 2 settings...and there are only two buttons. So 4 different settings for switch 1 wouldn't be possible.
Answer:
I am using the vox valvetronix 30 watt. Actuall, each button does have two different functions, just not at the same time. For instance, if you hold down the bypass button on the amp and press the right switch, it programs the button to control the FX bypass
Answer:
I tried a generic $12 Traynor footswitch for my Classic 30 combo and it didn't work. So I ended up paying more money for the actual Peavey footswitch. It didn't really make sense to me since they should all theoretically be built the same and as long as the polarity was matched up correctly, any switch should have worked...oh well.
Answer:
I have the Valvetronix 30 watt combo. The left switch is Channel 1/Channel 2 and the right switch is effect on and effect off. Not quite sure what you're getting at.
Anderich: You sure you were using the footswitch right? I recently got a Classic 30 combo and had that problem, too, but realized I didn't have the lead switch on the amp pressed in. The channel switching will not work with a footswitch on a classic 30 unless you have the lead switch on the amp pressed in. Otherwise only the other switch will work and that will just flip your reverb on and off.

Yes, the first button switches beetween one and two, but if your read the manual, it says you can tell the second switch what to do, by either holding down the manual button and pressing it, or by holding down the bypass button and pressing it. If you have it on manual, it is almost like having a theree channal amp.
