Help! my effect is picking up the radio

Question:
hello everyone
i have a paia Hot Lyx Sustain, however, it picks up the radio and i don't know how to fix it
Answer:
Does it do it connected to the amp, but with nothing plugged in to the input? It does it with nothing else in the signal chain?
I'm no expert on RF problems, but I think that chassis grounding (something not grounded that should be) is sometimes the culprit.

i could not test that as the pedal is designed to turn on and off when it is plugged in and unplugged, respectavely. but if my volume pedal is on mute and i connect the pedal i still get the radio.
all wire used is multi-stranded and it uses switchcraft jacks, at least they look like switchcraft jacks

correct

I might be able to narrow things down a bit if you can answer a few questions...
First, is it in a metal case?
And did you build it? (ie are you comfortable soldering more parts onto it).

Can you find a radio station that plays better musicians than yourself?
And would your audiance appreciate a traffic report during your gigs?
Sorry, couldn't resist. Another solution is to get some copper shielding and shield the case.

it is in a metal case and i did build it. if you want you can look at the website http://www.paia.com/guitarfx.htm

okay so i called the company (paia) and the pedal checked out fine, i even put cardboard between the circuit contacts and the metak case. just if your wondering it picks up 960 AM which, in my neck of the woods, is oldies. sorry but i dont want that coming out of my guitar amp even though i love some oldies songs

Actually, since it's already in a metal case, you problem could possibly be solved by filtering. Check out this article's on the input filter. It never hurts to have really small valued caps in various places to cut inaudibly high (ie radio) frequencies. And I know they are parts that are often left out when people are trying to save components, money, or space, or when the pedal is just poorly designed.
There's lot's of different compressor designs out there, so I can't guess where the problem is without a schematic. So if you can post (or email) a copy of a schematic, I could point a few areas where adding a component or two might do the trick. Otherwise, there's always trial & error, which on a relatively small circuit, isn't a bad approach. Just don't solder any parts on until you know where they need to go.
This probably isn't the problem, but it's also a good idea to put a small valued cap in parrallel with the large one that goes from the 9v+ connection to ground to help filter out anything coming in on the power supply. If you've taken any electronics classes you might think, "but a 0.01uF won't do anything in parallel with a 100uF since they just add up to be 100.01uF". But that's only partially true. The impedance of large valued capacitors drops off at higher frequencies.
Answer:
hey everyone problem solved
the paint on the case was preventing the circuit from being grounded. i sanded off the paint and presto problem solved
Answer:
My wah used to pick up the radio. It was kinda cool.
Answer:
oh, if it is not grounded it will pick up radio signals? I built a pedal a while back and coulnd't get it to give me distortion, but it did pick up a radio station.
