Adding a tube preamp to a hybrid amp?

Question:
As some of you might know, Ive got this beastly amp...a 120 watt Peavey Deuce. Its a SS pre and 4 6L6 power tubes. This thing is stinking LOUD!!
But anywho
On the back there is a pre-amp in and pre-amp out. Would it be possible (in theory) to get a tube pre-amp and run it Guitar->Tube Pre->Peavey?
If so, would standard tube mic pre's do the job, or would I need a guitar pre? (I dont know much about this type of stuff, except for the recording world).
Could I also run a tube pre in a loop fashion...Guitar->Peavey->(Pre out) Tube Preamp->(Pre in) Amp?
Anybody ever tried anything like this?
Answer:
I think I read somewhere that you can use the Pwr-amp-In for that kind of thing. Im not sure about that, so dont go and do it and then say "andrew told me to do it" when your amp explodes.

Anybody ever tried anything like this? ok...i would recommend running it like this
Guitar-->tube pre-->Peavey pre-in (amp)
running the guitar-->pre-out-->preamp-->pre-in-->power amp is going to double pre-amp your signal...it could work well, but it's going to leave the SS portion in your signal AND double pre-amp your signal (which could result in a very hot signal going into the power amp...not necessarily bad btw)

1 Yes
2 A guitar preamp should be set up to pretty much do what the preamp section of a guitar amp does. Mic pre? I wouldn't mess with it unless you have one laying around already.
3 yes, although I'm not sure if would work out that well. If its a full blown guitar preamp, there's no sense in running it thru 2 preamps and processing it twice.
That amp would be a nice platform for using a modeler if you were so inclined ... Using the amp model, but with the speaker/cab model off, and running its output into the power amp in jack. It might take some tweaking eq-wise and signal level-wise, but my guess is a decent modeler would sound better than the Peavey ss preamp of the amp.
120 watts with 2 12" speakers is indeed loud

Yes, I do have one laying around...and I REALLY need to get an attenuator!

By Gutiar-> Tube Pre -> Peavey... I meant Guitar -> Tube Pre -> Amp (from Preamp in)
