Where to buy parts

Question:
What are some good sites to shop for capacitors / resistors / etc online? I'm looking for some .001uf capacitors. Radioshack.com doesn't sell them, and partsexpress.com is out of stock.

Answer:
I've heard good things about http://www.smallbearelec.com/home.html.
Answer:
Oh yeah, I've heard of them. Unfortunately, they don't carry .001uf capacitors, at least none that I could find.
EDIT:
I stand corrected. http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=172 What I need the part for is a treble-bleed for my strat's volume control. I'm not clear on the difference between .001uf and .001mf, though.

Same thing. The "u" I guess is a greek character, the right leg is drawn longer than a regular u, u is used since we don't have that character on the keyboard. It stands for microfarad.
Those should be available anywhere that sells component parts. MCM Electronics is another source.
Are you going to put the 100K resistor with it, or only the cap? I've done it both ways. With just the cap, as you roll the vol. back, it starts to get thinner sounding, since the cap is passing the highs, while the volume pot is attenuating the rest of it. With the 100K in parallel with it, it sounds more natural as you roll it back, but it does change the taper of it a bit. If you weren't planning on it, you might want to go ahead and get one of those and try it. 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 watt is fine.
They do have .001 at Rad Shack - .001uf cap
If they don't have that, you could try one of their 100 asst. cap packs, the cap will say "102" on it with a letter, the letter won't matter, its a voltage rating.

Yeah, I'm going to put it with a resistor. Thanks for the info, I thought the symbols were equal but I wasn't sure.
