Upgrade, or Downgrade?
Question: As a nod to VH1's "Best Week Ever" I am announcing my pedalboard swap and leaving it to you, the people to give it the Upgrade or Downgrade. And please explain why.... I am going to be getting a Keeley Compressor, a Keeley Fuzz Head, and a HomeBrew electronics Power Screamer. www.robertkeeley.com Has his compressor & Fuzz Head and www.homebrewelectronics.com has the powerscreamer My guess is that most of you have never heard of the powerscreamer before, but it is an incredible sounding pedal with a boost also. Anyway, these are all replacing my VS Rt. 66 so..... Answer: i guess i'm happy for you...it's an upgrade sure, but you're spending over $600 to replace a $140 pedal. i'm mostly jealous because i don't have that much money. Answer: Yeah, what's really crazy is that I got the Rt. 66 pedal BRAND NEW for $60, and yes it is the newest version, that was a sweet deal. Answer: It's an upgrade. It seems a bit unnecessary, and harder to manage, though. To each his own. -Nick Answer: Well, they are both extreme high quality pedals. I think all in all it will come down to personal preference. If it were me, I would get the pedal most different from what I have so that I could have some different types of OD/Distortion to work with. Answer: If you really like multiple boutique overdrives, you don't have to reach too far. I would take a good look at the Fulltone fulldrive 2, modded ts9, and modded bd-2 too. If you can find a Ferrari yellow FD2, it has incredible tone...the limited edition pedals do differ (at least I know that for the cream, blue, and yellow versions). Good luck with your choice! Answer: Okay, so after a night of playing for 5+ hours, so far, I would have to say MAJOR UPGRADE. I am by no means dogging the Rt. 66, but these babies sound AMAZING. Their touch-responsiveness is amazing. Anyway, I play this weekend at two different services, one of which is a modern College & Career service in which we play a lot of modern worship so I'll try to get a good review on here sometime after the test drive.
