I think I decided on an amp.
Question: I have talked to my parents and it looks like I can spend around $1,100 on an amp soon. The amp I am looking at is a fender 65 twin reverb. I have heard this amp has awsome cleans and I already have a good collection of peddles started(jakyll and hyde, boss dd-20, and digitech gnx2(I use it for weird effects). Is there another amp that would suit me better or is the fender twin reverb the way to go? I play Worship music like hillsong united. And stuff like kutless, 12 stones, creed, nickelback, relient k and pretty much any christian music. I Don't have to sound excactly like these bands but it would be sweet to get close. Thanks Answer: Good call. The Twins are excellent amps. They have a very clean sound which is just what you are probably shooting for when you buy one of the reissues. The bands you listed are probably not going to get you as close as you would like...but it will nail that blues/blues rock tone easily. Answer: v3.. v3.. v3.. v3.. v3.. v3.. v3.. Answer: I'm with omensixaxe, I'd take a Twin any day, especially in light of your needs and your present setup. I like the "big" sound of a Fender tube amp. Answer: Good call. I don't normally post here but anyone who is getting one of Fender's best should be happy. Answer: Fender '65 Twin Reverb RI is basically the "big brother" of the amp I want...the '65 Deluxe Reverb. With the pedal complement you have, I expect that you'll be able to get a very wide range of tones. The TR itself is a very clean amp and a good starting palette for tone. Carvin seems to be fixing it's problems. On Carvin BBS and elsewhere, I haven't heard of a single botched order. Carvin has now come out with a statement saying that the V3 has some flaws. They are now taking them back, fixing them, and shipping them back to the owners for FREE. Talk about customer service. Answer: You may want to look at the new Fender SuperSonic. Solid Fender cleans AND a killer crunch at a foot switch. The 1/12 combo is around $1000 out the door. Do be aware Creed, Nickleback and the guy for Hillsongs are all running Boogie Recs. The Rec tone is far different than a Fender Twin tone. Answer: Know that you won't get amp crunch with a Fender Twin. The only way to get real amp distortion is with an amp. That said, if you love the Fender Twin's cleans and love you pedal tone, then go for it. However, if you like distorted amp tones, the Twin may not be the way to go. I love the Twin's cleans, but I'm a pretty distorted kinda guy , so my preference leans to other amps. If I had that kinda money, I'd personally look for a Rivera. Or Orange, or Carvin, or Vox, or Mesa, or Marshall, or... Answer: Naw, Riveras blow all those out of the water, IMO. Answer: Originally Posted by Rainer. Answer: The main problem with carvin is having to ship everything back to them too. Its really nice when you can take it to the guitar tech in town and get stuff fixed. How much would an amp that nickelback, creed and hillsong use? And I know nickelback has a twin reverb in one of their guitar players rig. But thats probably for clean stuff.
