Fair trade?
Question: I want to trade in my Ibanez Toneblaster stack for a Marshall MG100DFX stack. They're both solid state, but the Marshall would have the Marshall sound to it and a better overdrive channel. Is this a trade worth considering? Answer: Originally Posted by simple servant I want to trade in my Ibanez Toneblaster stack for a Marshall MG100DFX stack. Is this a trade worth considering? go tube, dude. i know u may hate hearing that, but i would trade in ur toneblaster stack for a tube amp...even if it isnt a 100W stack. Answer: are you sure the overdrive is "better?" just because it's a marshall doesn't make it "better" in many ways. what do you not like about your toneblaster? have you spent time tweaking the knobs? good luck Answer: Originally Posted by simple servant I want to trade in my Ibanez Toneblaster stack for a Marshall MG100DFX stack. First off, most people have no need for a stack. Why do you want a stack? The Marshall carries the Marshall name, but doesn't carry the signature Marshall sound of the more expensive all tube amps. I'd seriously just sell the amp, and get a Peavey all tube amp. The Peavey Ultra and XXX combos are good. They're 60 all-tube watts, and can easily blow away 100 watt solid state watts. That is true...I didn't want to get a tube right away though because of financial issues, and I want something with a beefier, less fuzz and more tone overdrive. I know I can't get a good tube amp now because of the financial issues. I looked at those Peaveys and they looked good. Wasn't really sure about them though, I haven't had the chance to hear them. Thanks for the suggestion! Answer: How about a Marshall AVT Valvestate stack? I know they're not the greatest, but I can get a hold of one for about $50 less than I paid for my Ibanez. Thanks for the suggestion! You really don't need a half stack unless you're playing to large crowds, i.e. gigging pro rocker. The Peavey Ultras, 60 watt, go on eBay for around $400 now. Great deal, and they sound very awesome, and generally pump out more juice then 100 watt ss amps. Think of a Marshall on steroids. And that $400 is mush cheaper then the Marshall MG100DFX half-stack would be. It would be louder, have better tone, and are just 99999x better then solid state. This Is A Myth: Tube amps are more expensive then solid state. Answer: Originally Posted by rainer123 This Is A Myth: Tube amps are more expensive then solid state. Listen to the man. Seriously, you could get a great tube amp for what you could sell the amp for. Beyond that you would have to put in maybe 20$ a year for new tubes. Not bad and the increase in tone is incredible! Answer: well through my vast experience of playing amps... dont do it. The ibanez toneblaster aint bad, and the Marshall isnt gonna get a very much better sound, so u will just be burning money basically. if ur gonna upgrade, upgrade big cause its not worth it to trade in ur guitar/amp every month for a better one. Which also makes the sound oh so much sweeter. It's ear candy. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
