Difference Between Stomp Box and Pedal
Question: Ok, i swear i had posted this a couple days ago, i either started it and quit or dreamed it. So whats the difference? I always thought that a pedal doesn't "click" into "gear" and a stomp box does, i never actually used one myself . While i am making a thread, another question. What is a good "scream" pedal/stomp box thats affordable. Answer: A pedal is a "stompbox". Answer: They are the exact same thing. Stomp box is just more of a slang-y er term. Answer: A pedal is a unit manipulated with the foot, such as the switch in most guitar single-effects units. A stompbox is a colloquialism for a unit with a foot-manipulated switch. Both are terms often used to describe guitar effects units which use pedal-type switches. Answer: ok, i am thinking of the boxes with the "butten" and the boxes with the "flat thing, like a boss Ds-1 or every boss nearly" does one click and one not? Answer: Originally Posted by earlessdog ok, i am thinking of the boxes with the "butten" and the boxes with the "flat thing, like a boss Ds-1 or every boss nearly" does one click and one not? Stompboxes are activated with a footswitch. Pedals are activated with a footswitch. Therefore, they are identical. Answer: The click has to do mostly with the construction of the pedal. The terms stompbox and pedal have absolutely nothing to do with clicking. Answer: I disagree. A stompbox means you can abuse the thing to its demise and a pedal is something you find on a bike. Answer: If you're at a job interview and you used to work at a guitar store, you sold pedals not stompboxes. If you're talking to your 15 yr old friends trying to impress them, it's a stompbox. Especially if you're talking online and tend to accidentally spell petal instead of pedal. Answer: Definitive answer: The terms "pedal" or "stompbox" have nothing to do with the switching mechanisms. They are completely synonymous terms. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
