Marshall Microstack

Question:
http://www.marshallamps.com/product....ode=Microstack, this is what i kinda want. I will likely be getting a new guitar this month and i wanted a new amp.
1). how much $ is this including the head and all?
2). is it tube or SS?
3). is it worth it, looks appealing anyway.
Answer:
This amp is $300 according to musiciansfriend. It's a SS amp. Do you wrather a SS amp over a tube amp? You can find a Peavey Bravo or Triumph on Ebay for about 200-250, which is cheaper and it's tube.
Answer:
the microstack is fun, but IMO it's a bit of a gimmick. it's a 15W 2x10 SS amp.

15w? that couldn't get to loud could it? How can it only be that small and be so big in size? so its not the greatest deal? Does it still have good sound? does the bravo or the triumph have heads and stacks?

I don't know if the bravo or triumph come in a head/cab config, but I know the Peavey Ultra/Ultra+ do.

hmm, like in tube amp proportion how loud?

Originally Posted by earlessdog hmm, like in tube amp proportion how loud? well the 2x10 config in a stack is going to increase your perceved volume a bit...but, I know that it's simply not going to compare in volume to a 15W tube amp through a 2x10 config. The tube will be considerably louder in the vast majority of cases.

Seriously, I think you need to go to a store and try out a bunch of amps. No matter what you're told here at CGR, ultimately your ears are the top judge.

Do you really think you need a head/cab? Even with a full band, a 30/40/50 tube 1x12 or 2x12 will be WAY loud enough.
Answer:
Do you rather a combo or a halfstack? IMO i think you need a combo.

30w tube amps can still get loud when cranked, no doubt about it. Your HotRod Deluxe is 40w right?
Answer:
He's actually right, Ryan. When you practice with a very loud drummer, you need a very loud amp or a PA you can mic your amp.
