Bi-pass combo amps speakers and hook up to my 4x12???
Question: Hi. I have a combo amp with 2 speakers in it. I'm wanting to take the wires which normally are hooked into those 2 combo speakers and put a male part on the female connector parts and run that speaker wire line into my 4x12 cabinet speakers. I want to seperate the 4x12 in half, using one side (2 of the 4) with 1 side of my combo. Same with the other side. Can anyone help me on how to set this up. Especially with which wires go where in my 4x12 cabinet.(Please explain in detail). I get confused when talking about parallel and seriers hook ups. Thanks. Matthew. Answer: I am confused. Does your combo amp have a speaker out, or does it just have 2 red and 2 black wires coming from the amp to the speakers? I built my own speaker cabinet, and just ran the red and black wires from the guitar amp into the wires that I had wired to my speakers, like this: [AMP] r b r b r b r b b b b b[right terminal, left speaker] r b r b b b b b[right terminal, right speaker] r r r r r r r r[left terminal, left speaker] r r r r r r r r[left terminal, right speaker] I'm almost 100% positive I could do it FOR you, but it's harder to explain over the internet, lol. Answer: his amp is a Crate TC50 (or something like that) basically he's trying to take a stereo 2x12 and run it to a 4x12 but split the 4x12 to maintain the stereo (using the right half of the cab for one side, the left half for the other). it's very doable...i'm not convinced it'd be really worth doing though. Answer: I get confused when talking about parallel and seriers hook ups. Perhaps we should get you un-confused on this issue, and then you'll know what you're doing in all areas of hooking up speakers to amplifiers.....sound like an idea? If not, you dont need to worry about splitting anything. The important thing to know, what impedance is your cabinet, and what impedance is your amp's speaker set up, and/or what impedance is your amp expecting. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
