Pedal no workie....
Question: My Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster decided it would be retarded today. When i engage the pedal, it gives a HUGE boost, no matter where I set the dial (usually goes between 6 and 25 db of boost). If I set it to the minimum 6 db and turn it on, it'll boost what sounds like almost 20, then when I move the knob up, it gets to what sounds like 35 or so - fizzy and bad sounding, too. I used to use it to get a little extra juice out of my sound, and it doesn't accomplish that too well any more. Any ideas on what the problem could be? -Nick Answer: Originally Posted by Only Alive My Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster decided it would be retarded today. Answer: Yep, I'd say it's a loose wire on the pots as well. That would explain why it would go out of control, because loss of control of the pot. Definitly open it up, make sure all the solder joints are good. Answer: This sounds overly simple, but if your using it with a battery, it might be about to die Answer: Originally Posted by RipVanWinkle This sounds overly simple, but if your using it with a battery, it might be about to die So simple, that I didn't even think of it until a few minutes after I first posted. I tried using an adapter, and presto. Then my sisters had to go to bed, and I haven't been able to test it further. I was able to get it to work a few times with the battery too, so I can't be sure that's the problem, but I'm pretty sure it's the battery. I did check all the solder joints, etc, and it all looks good. I'm betting on a weak battery problem. -Nick Answer: ....on that note^^ make sure you source of power is clean in general, even if its a wall wart. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
