New pedal comin'!

Question:
Yep, guy at my school posted on the school For Sale boards a Dano Fish & Chips EQ in perfect condition for 15$. Couldn't refuse that, as i've been interested in seeing what an EQ could do for me. (I've yet to find a clean sound on my amp that I really like...hopfully this will help.) Should get it from him this weekend!
Answer:
Heck yeah!
Answer:
Dano effects are SO underrated, they really are good pedals! I'd put the Fish And Chips up against Boss or Line 6 ANY DAY.
Answer:
Well, i'll be finding that out soon enough. I'm thinking though, since I have access to a full machine shop at college, once i've got some good experience using the machines, I may build a nice metal housing for the pedal and move it in. That would make it a heck of a lot more durable.
Answer:
The Fish 'n Chips is a great pedal and $15 makes it even greater. It will help you really fine tune your sound. I would not play without mine.
Answer:
Well, got it! Sounds like it will work pretty well, but I haven't been able to play much as I just got back to college and i'm waiting for a last roommate to arrive so we can move everything around. Once we do, i'll spend some quality time with it.
Answer:
You can send it to me if you get tired of it.
Answer:
Ya know, as much as I like ya...nope. It's actually doing a good job as a solo boost, though the volume differences between using it with my clean and OD channels is pretty weird (using it with cleans makes it a lot louder than with OD) that kinda ruins the idea of using it in between channels, unless anyone here knows how to fix that?

I am also interested in any answer to that...

I notice it on my GE-7 as well as my wah...

Have you tried it in the effects loop? When you use the distortion on your amp it limits the volume after your gain stages, (I think) and so you're getting a drop in volume because everything is being turned down by the preamp gain channel volume. When you put it through the clean channel it's alowed to boost all the way through to the power amp (or at least through the rest of the preamp) and that's why the clean is louder with the EQ.
My wah has a volume boost on it that works great with cleans or when pushing powertubes, but if I try and put it before a distortion box the volume boost doesn't matter at all.....
Hope that helps some. Dano pedals rock btw.
Answer:
I'll try that...if it works i'll have to do some creative rearranging of my pedalboard to make it fit though.
Answer:
Think of it as a gain boost, instead of a volume boost. In the distorted channels, you're just pumping more gain by boosting your signal. In the clean stages, you're pumping more gain also, butsince there's no clipping, the sound is louder rather then more distorted.
Effects loop should do the trick, unless you're using a lot of power amp distortion.
