Peavey JSX Joe Satriani amp head????
Question: Hi. I'm having trouble dailing in a good tone on my Peavey JSX Joe Satriani head. It seems it's either to nasaly with too much mids or it's too bassy or has too much treble. It seems it either one or the other and not a nice mixture of all 3. I can't get even close to Joe Satriani's "Is there love in space" sound. Anyone have any ideas?? Thanks. Matthew. Answer: maybe the peavey website has some settings for the satch sound. Answer: Here on CGR lots of people have had a hard time finding a good tone. You might want to search around a bit here in the amps section. Answer: here at CGR we recommend playing your guitar and your amp EXTENSIVELY. I don't know how much time you've spent trying to dial in good tone, but I don't think you've had that amp longer than 45 days. also, what kind of cab are you using? I used to have carvin mts3200 cabs and it sounded nasally also. I'm just wondering why I sold my Carvin mts3200 amp head. It didn't have alot of variance when it came to rock but the sound it did have KICKED. Steve Vai-ish. hmmm. I'm thinking about shopping again. The JSX was expensive and if I can get a MTS3200 for 1/2 price then I can't see the advantage of having the JSX. I keep trying to talk myself in to keeping it but I'm running out out of reasons. HELP!!! Answer: were you running both the MTS and the JSX through the same cab? you might just have nasally speakers. Answer: You should try it out a lot. But an amp sounds truest when you crank it up. Sounds like you might just need some crankage. I saw Satch live using the amp, and man, it sounded great. Of course, it was Satch playing it... I always use an epi les paul whenever I am looking for and amp. Answer: There is almost always a c-1 classic where I go. Mine is stock (currently, need time to get my piezo installed) and thus its pretty close to any other c-1 classic.
