8ohm speaker into a 4ohm input. problem?

Question:
on the back of this amp there is 1 input for using the amp as a combo and its a 8ohm input. then there is 2 inputs for 4 ohms for connnected external speakers. i just bought it from a friend and for the 9 months hes had the 8 ohm speaker was plugged into the 4ohm input. does this harm the amp? or would it only harm it the other way around, like a 4ohm speaker into a 8ohm input?
Answer:
4-->8 should be fine...don't do it the other way or your resistance will be too low and you'll end up blowing up the output transformer...I think.
there was actually a thread on this recently...let me see if i can link you to it...it's a good read

/forum...highlight=ohms I know i was reading in my Mesa Book and it says that it is better to match higher than lower. It does not say that it will do any damage if you match low except put more ware on the tubes. But this is my amp not your, so you might use caution

Answer:
It's already pretty much been covered . . . but to clarify:
It is definitely best to match the impedance of your speaker/cab to the impedance of your amp. If the speaker impedance is lower you risk damaging the amp. If the speaker imedance is higher you wont damage anything, but you will lose some volume and efficiency.
There may or may not be technical data to back this up, but I think it's especially important to be mindful of this with guitar amps, when you are pushing your output section heavily.
