New amp for my church
Question: At my church everybody always just used this guys amp (some older marshall tube, nice.) But now he is leaving and my church is concidering getting an amp. My church's music pastor has basicly come to me asking about what amp to get. I thought I would be able to give him a awnser, but I can't think of anything at this point, so I need your help. It needs to be around $300-400. It should have goodoverdrive, since that is all it is used for. It doesn't have to have any onboard effects, even reverb since they would never get used. It also has to have good clean, since we use alot of that too. IT doesn't have to be tube, but for the price, it probably could be. It also doesn't have to be big, even 15-20 watts would be fine since we mike everything. What would you guys suggust? Answer: Traynor YCV20 or maybe a used YCV40. You won't go wrong there and you even get the reverb. Answer: Sweet. I should also note that it will I will be using an Epiphone les paul through my pedals in my sig, but the other guitar player will be using a tele reisue (52?) through no effects. Answer: when i think good cleans i think carvin, although a SX series amp might not be what you're looking for. the drive channel is good, it just took me a long time to figure out the amp's controls. perhaps another place to recomend the peavey classic 30? Answer: In addition to the Traynor and the Peavey already mentioned, you may want to look at the Fender Blues Jr. Peavey also has the valveking series of tube amps out now - a 50watt 1X12 is about $400 new. Answer: I thought about the valveking, but I didn't know if it was good for low gain or not. I would also wanna take it home really bad Answer: These are the amps I am loking at: numero 1 , I will have to check HC for this one , and this one Answer: I'll second the Blues Jr., especially since you can mic it. You should be able to score one around $300 used. Answer: Originally Posted by thesteve I'll second the Blues Jr., especially since you can mic it. You should be able to score one around $300 used. I was able to pick up a brand new one for my church for about $315. I went to the store the church normally buys all their music equipment from, told them who I was buying it for, and that it was the church's very first guitar amp and they gave me a nice deal. It probably helped that I've bought three guitars there and numerous effects and accessories as well, but it never hurts to try Answer: The Blues Jr. is footswitchable, unlike the Pro Jr. Even if it's just for switching the "fat" circuit on and off that's still more versatile than the Pro Jr. I considered Pignose amps when I was looking for a smaller combo for leading worship at church and the issue that turned me off that a lot of people seemed to be having was the lack of bass from the combo and how the EQ had little effect on shaping the sound. I don't think you could go wrong with the Pro Jr. Answer: Originally Posted by jamforchrist123 These are the amps I am loking at: numero 1 , I will have to check HC for this one , and this one Don't just take my word about Traynors. May I suggest you read the Fender Forums to see what the forum members say about the Traynors? You'd be surprised how well Traynors stack up against the Blues Jr's bigger brothers, the HRD and Deville. Answer: id have to say a valveking. i have that amp and it does have a good clean sound. it also has a good rock sound to. you can play anything with the valveking. Answer: I would also strongly recommend the Traynors. I own the YCV40WR, and it is an incredible amp for the money. Very warm sound, but it can really rock when I want it to. Answer: The only thing about the traynors is the only ones I see are over $400. I am also checking out those new all tube epiphones. I would get the middle priced one. I just need to play it.
