Vox AC 30 or Mesa Boogie F-30?
Question: im trying to decide between these two amps. there both around the same price. im unable to test out the AC 30. i like the sound clips of the vox, but there all kind of clean. can the ac 30 pump out a johnny buckland type tone? Answer: Thse amps arn't reall that close to compare in my opinion. For people that play vox amps look at Switchfoot, Fountain of Wayne, the Beatles. THey all used the vox. The mesa willl for sure have more distoration. I really don;t know much more than that. Answer: The Vox is modeled off of the Top Boost model if I am not mistaken, they can sound amazing at high gain.... (just listen to the edge...) I would go with the vox, I find that the guitar tone remains much purer through it than through the mesa. Answer: And people always seem to have a hard time finding a tone they like with mesa. But if it was me, I would go with the mesa for the style of music I play. Answer: The Vox for sure. I regard their equipment as THE top notch you can buy. JUst check harmony central Answer: Well, I would love to get an AC30. There are so many great sounds you can get from that amp. But then again, i'm not a hard rock player, and i've never been a huge fan of Mesa tones. Answer: the F-30 isn't your "standard" Mesa tone. that being said, the two amps are probably nothing alike. what kind of sound are you going for? I know you recently has a Peavey VK and didn't like it. As far as Johnny Buckland goes, I know for awhile he was using a Fender Hot Rod Deville. I would imagine if you could keep the AC30 clean, it'd do a good Coldplay tone. Answer: Originally Posted by wesley7777 Really, there new amps seem to have reliablity issues. When people give you a reliablity rating of 5 out of ten i say there might be problems. This is on there new custom classic line that i think he is talking about for its the only amp in the mesa range. Look at the reviews http://www.harmony-central.com/Guita...2_Combo-1.html Answer: Originally Posted by thesteve the F-30 isn't your "standard" Mesa tone. that being said, the two amps are probably nothing alike. what kind of sound are you going for? I'd listen to U2 to see what an AC30 is capable of. Answer: The AC-30 is a great amp for Coldplay tones. Well, it's a great amp, period, but I think you'll get some great Buckland sounds out of it. -Nick Answer: I actually saw coldplay on Austin City Limits last night.... If you look, there are the two hot rod devils out front right behind him, but neither of them are mic'd, if you look in the background there is this one combo mic'd up behind the two, but it did not look like an HR, it may be that he has a contract w/ fender to use HR's but he is using other amps in reality. The AC-30 will sound AWESOME for coldplay, it would most likley be on the top of my list of amps for that (except i'd go for a Bad Cat or a Matchless, which is what I am looking into now) Answer: i was looking into a hot rod deville 410, but ive read so many bad reviews about it. and how its really unreliable. i think im gonna go with the vox unless im really really impressed when i go play the mesa in a few days. sucks i cant test out the vox first.
