Pedal Board questions

Question:
For Christmas, my parents gave me this pedal board.
It has two main features:
1) Two effect loops
2) A power supply
The first question is about #1.
What is the purpose of this? You plug the guitar into the board, then the pedals into the board's loop, then the board to the amp. Is it just to keep things inside the board, or is there another purpose for sound and such?
The second question, with feature #2
I know nothing about technical things, so I am going to explain this VERY basically.
The board has 6 holes. It comes with some connectors that have a long end. The problem is my effect pedals all use the kind of adapter that you need to have a hole in the connector for. I think it is called a negative adapter, maybe?
So the question: Do they make a cord that has a long end on one and a end with a hole on the other?
I really need to find out what these terms are, until then I will just look dumb.
Thanks
Answer:
yeah, they make 'em, I got mine from voodoo lab, (digital Music co)
I am sure they can hook you up

Thanks If you can get or take pictures of what you're talking about that makes it a lot easier .
Answer:
Looks to me like the "holes" are power adaptors for the pedals. Basically a pedal powering system built into the board. All you need are the lines to connect them.
Answer:
Yes, they are the adaptors. There are two different kinds tho.
*edit*
I checked and they need a "standard negative tip 9V DC adaptor", so I am assuming what came with the board is positive.
