ss poweramp

Question:
hello all. i'm doing a bit of research on different amp configurations and i was reading about the Tech 21 SansAmp PSA-1 Preamp. they suggest using a solid state poweramp because a tube poweramp can cause too much compression, since the PSA already has tube emulation and i hear good things about it being run into a ss poweramp.
Answer:
I just read on another board where a few guys said they forsook tube because of this amp - which is.... unthinkable.
Case
Answer:
Yeah. I wouldn't think tube power amps would work all too well with modeling amps. But I generally don't like modeling amps.
Answer:
well, from what i've been reading, this isn't your average modeling preamp. and it doesn't have any effects on it so all of that is controlled by you. it got very good reviews on hc, so that's why i'm curious.
Answer:
I see.
Well, the way I see it, why get a *modeling* amp, when you can get the real deal? Sorry, I'm a snob tube.
Answer:
wow, i've never heard of a "snob tube". and besides, this set-up gives me many more tones for the money.

I like getting a few high quality tones, rather then a ton of OK ones. Besides, some amps are really versatile. That's why I like Rivera amps (tho I'm too poor to get one yet... )
Answer:
Get a Marshall JMP-1 preamp and run it through an all tube power amp. It's versatile as all get out, plus it has tubes. Think of every Marshall amp ever, from the Plexi to the JCM series, to the JTM.
You'll thank me later.
Why do you need so much versatility anyways? Just curious. Even the JMP-1 is pretty much overkill for me.
Answer:
i do like the marshall jmp, but i hear many people saying that it's too noisy. and my whole versatility thing is that i like to play just about every style from Jazz to Brit Pop (like Delirious and Muse) to heavier things like Stavesacre and Coheed and Cambria.

edit-

never mind whatever i said about getting a modeling amp or anything. i decided that i'm going to save up my money for a long stinking time and i'm gonna get myself a Bogner Shiva. thank you all for showing me the light and a new way to be broke for the next few years.
Answer:
If it's noisy, whoever was using it must've done something incorrectly.
Answer:
well, things have changed a lot for me in a couple of weeks because i've been actually thinking about the kind of tone that i'm looking for. and it's not what i thought i would end up doing. but after the jars of clay concert yesterday and hearing a the amp that Steve Mason uses (Matchless Chieftan) i have decided to go with a class A tube amp. and since i'm only 15 and i don't yet have a job i'm going more towards a lower priced one. and i have discovered the Laney VC-30.
