What Order?
Question: I'm considering getting an eq pedal and in doing so, considering the setup of my pedal board. Here's what I currently have: Tuner - Wah/Volume - DOD FX55 distortion - J & H - Boss CE-5 Chorus - Dano Slap echo. What order would you put these pedals in and where would you put an eq pedal in the chain? Thanks Answer: I do my EQ last, but I had to test out combos. Just try and see which one sounds the best and has the least extra-noise. Answer: do you have an effects loop? last tuesday for practice my order was: wah-->J&H-->tuner-->amp--loop out:EQ-->delay--loop in i may end up moving my tuner back into the effects loop. one of the things i like about having my tuner after my delay is that i can kill the post-delay echo that occurs as the delays fade out when i turn the effect off. I do have a loop. What is the purpose of using certain effects in the loop as opposed to all before hand? If you don't have an effects loop, just put them at the end. If you get an EQ, you can use it as a gain boost before the distortions, or a volume boost in the FX loop or after the distortions. If you're not gonna use the EQ as a boost, then it really doesn't matter where ya put it. Answer: Originally Posted by Rainer. I'd do guitar>wah/vol>distortions>amp>(chorus>echo). What is the purpose of using certain effects in the loop as opposed to all before hand? the loop puts certain effects between the preamp and the power amp. what this means is that you're coloring at the last point in the signal before it's amped to speaker level. one advantage for example is delay: instead of taking a delayed signal and distorting it causing the delays to sorta mush together and become less distinct, you're delaying an already distorted signal allowing them to stay more distinct. Answer: Here's how I think it should go. Amp,Delay/Reverb,MOD,EQ,Distortion,Compressor,Wah,Guitar. You win the good post in the FX forum award of the day: Answer: Tuner - Wah/Volume - DOD FX55 distortion - J & H - Boss CE-5 Chorus - Dano Slap echo. My setup is Guitar, Tuner, Wah, Phaser, Distortion, Whammy, Equilizer, Chorus, Tremolo, Delay, Amp I would recommend similar because it works well. If u love effects, like me, try the eq before distortion and cut all frequencys except one of the middle ones, sounds like different stages of the wah, the very middle one is my fav, lovely for solos | | | +15 | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | -15 -15 -15 | -15 -15 -15 Basic diagram, lol Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
