Wah Techniques?!

Question:
I bought a WAH pedal awhile back... and it's basically been collecting dust ever since just because I'm not exactly sure how to best utilize it.
Does anyone know of any good technique... or any websites that could help me out.
Also, if anyone could help be better understand Vibrato, that would rock.
Answer:
ditto for me for the wah. I mean, I know HOW to use it, I just don't use it well.
Answer:
Just listen to bands that use it. And play around with it.
Answer:
eh...i think i'm going to send this to effects.
generally with a wah, i've found it most effective to try to develop your own sound with it...this may possibly just be because i suck at using it.
Answer:
I use my wah a bunch (it's also the only effect pedal I have...). The key is experimentation. I have a tendancy to take whatever I have and try to make the oddest noises I can, so that might work for you.
It can be used as a filter for the sound, to just do the good ol' wah wah solo, as kind of a textural device, an upper harmonics emphasizer, and a lot more. Just gotta think creatively. Instead of looking at the pedal and thinking about how to use it, listen to the sound and think about how to use it.
Answer:
It's uncomfortable and weird to try to use a wah at first, but once you get used to it it becomes very fluid. Like Rainer said, experiement, listen to songs with lots of wah in them. Try using it in a fixed position as a midrange booster or sweep it back and forth while playing some funky chords.

Answer:
As cliché as the line is, practice really does make perfect. I had no idea what to do with my wah when I got it, but after listening to many different people using them, as well as a good bit of time playing around with it, I have developed my own style with it and have gotten pretty decent with it. I actually use it quite a bit now.
Answer:
I might just post a sound clip of some different wah techniques...
Answer:
What I used to do was play something funky and just tapped to the beat and it sounded pretty good.
Answer:
Simpliest thing is just to keep time on it. This works better for rhythm guitar. For lead, the simplest option is to accent each note (or group of notes) with it. Ever heard the concept of singing your solo as you play it? Well, how would you sing it with a wah sound? Those are all easy things to try!
Answer:
try slow sweeps while chording. that's a fun way to use the wah too.
Answer:
i use my wah mostly doing slow sweeps while tremolo picking or playing octaves, it gives a really cool sound especially when paired with a delay.
Answer:
listen to some bands that use/used alot of wah. Jimi Hendrix is a prime example also slash from Guns n' Roses uses the wah religiously. Listen to them and try to emulate what they do. That will give you a basis for your wah sound then you can fine tune it and expand as you develope as a player.
