Tips on buying use or new guitar effects

Question:
I am planning to buy a multiple effects for my guitar. Right now, I'm thinking about get a Boss Gt-6 out of brand names like Digitech GXN 1,2, and Toneworks AX1500G. I have read mix reviews on the Boss Gt-6, some say it good, others say it ok, or else they say to buy the Boss Gt-8. So any tips on what to look for a multiple effects will be helpful.

I actually own the Boss GT6, and I'm pretty happy with it. It takes a little while to figure out how to tweak all those knobs, but once you get it figured out, it's not too bad.
Here's the negative now: I don't like the full distortion patches at all, so I use my amp distortion and use the GT6 for reverb and delay on my amps distortion channel. When it's time to tune the guitar, the window is way too small to see onstage. You really have to squat down to see if you're in tune.
Other than that, it's not bad...especially if you;re doing recording. Besides, most of the online stores are getting rid of it to make room for the new GT8, so for $299, I think it's worth it.
Good Luck

Answer:
this is my order of the top multi-effects out right now.
Vox multieffects (this is the best out right now its tube driven w/ 2 expression pedals)
Boss GT-8
GNX 4
GNX 3
Boss GT-6
Ive tried each of these, the vox rocks by far. it has the best tone. i find its not as well suited for hardcore/screamo music. the gt-8 has some cool options like changing the sound of your guitar depending on how hard you hit the strings. the gnx has a built in 8 track and USB which is great for jamming and making demos.

Answer:
I am extremely impressed with the tone I can get out of my Line 6 Spider II. Anything from acoustic-clean to insane distortion. I think many of the Line 6 products are some of the most top-of-the-line things you can buy.
Answer:
try the line 6 pod xt live. the lead guitarist at my church has one and it sounds awesome. it has a lot of different amp models and just a hole lot of stuff. its great for metal and clean stuff
