NEW AMP!
Question: Yamaha T50C. Excuse me, I'm a bit busy playing it... Answer: Originally Posted by Rainer. Yamaha T50C. Excuse me, I'm a bit busy playing it... The wait is finally over... Designed by Mike Soldano.....very nice. Soundclips soon? Answer: Very soon, and yes, very nice. Answer: OK, so here's the rundown. Yamaha T50C - 50 watt, 1x12 Designed by Mike Soldano, made in the U.S.A. 2 Channels: Clean, Distortion (Footswitchable) Each channel has its own: -Preamp Gain -Bass, Mids, High -Reverb -Master Volume Universal presence control Speaker Out, 4, 8, or 16 Ohms (switchable) Series FX Loop "Slave Out" (Line Out) w/level control Celestion G12M-70 Great little amp. The clean channel starts getting raunchy around 3 or 4, which is good (what's the point of having a gain control on the pramp if it just gives you a lotta different volumes of the same clean?). The EQ is responsive on both channels. The distortion channel is a beast! Heavy, heavy modern-toned distortion (think Mesa-Boogie). Soldano's signature. Simple, great sounding amp. The clean channel is great! It breaks up nicely, and has a great overdriven tone when pushed. If you keep it nice and squeaky clean, it's very chimey and sweet. The reverb is amazing. Lush heavy (when needed) reverb from an Accutronics 3-spring tank. The sound of the reverb is just awesome. Sound clips coming very soon! Answer: PIcs what a new amp without pics. that really cool Rainer Answer: Nice! I'm talking to ya on AIM as I type, so you know what I think. I want one. Answer: Sounds like a nice amp, man! Congrats! Can't wait for some clips. Answer: Pics! 1. Soldano Designed, for sho! 2. Now, that's what I call a combo. 3. The front. 4. The back. 5. The lamps lighting the way to good tone. Answer: 6. The army of preamp tubes. This thing's got brutal gain! Answer: Nice. But wasnt your new amp a dsl40? or have u got yet another? Answer: You're a lucky boy. Answer: 7-12AX7s...but why? haha. Answer: Congrats ! I'm sure that will be a great amp for you. {insert caution about the evils of tube snobbery here} Answer: Originally Posted by dnl88 Nice. Answer: Originally Posted by thesteve 7-12AX7s...but why? haha. I'm guessing that each channel has its own preamp, so many of those would be for the gain stages... if you add in a tube reverb, that'll probably take a tube... and if the poweramp is a pushpull type, you need another 1/2 tube for a phase inverter. The rest are probably cathode followers (a funky type of gain stage... I'm still not sure exactly how they work). On a nice amp like this, preamp tubes are sure to add up. Very sweet amp Rainer.
