Build a flight case

Question:
Right. This is a forum for ams and ACCESSORIES so I'm gonna start an accessory orientated thread. I was wondering? Who has already made there own flight case for their amp. I am gonna make one for my head(after I buy it and finish building the cab) Now I was thinking to proceed like this :
I would like it to open from the bottom which will mean I have to be carefull that the bottom part is solid.
I will take 10mm plywood (solid stuff and 10mm is always cheap even if you get the "high end " stuff) I will make 2 parts :
A shallow box : for the bottom part (of the lid if it's round the other way)
And a deeper box : for the majority of the amp to sit in.

Both these parts will have the same dimensions.
Since the wood is 10 mm large I wont be using screws (it could split the wood) but I'll use very strong glue and wood staples (probably)
Theese 2 boxes should look like this :

After this, I cut out the parts where the handles slot in on the side. If the bottom part is smaller this means the handles are higher up, which is better.
And cut out the parts where I insert these things :

these hold the 2 parts together.
Now what you can do before all this is paint the wood with a water resistant paint.
Now I need theese thingy's
and a rivet gun (and rivets)
I drill holes through the metal bar and though the wood and insert the rivets through theese holes.
The advantage of rivets over screws is that rivets will be exacly the right size once they are compressed and you can't take them out. So basiccaly the protection bars are undismantable.
After this, I take some of these bars for the part where the top box slots into the bottom :

These are available in a 9.5mm width which is a tiny bit less wide than the plywood so you will have to bang it on or aplly a good amount of pressure to get it to slot onto the wood.
Next I rivet all the handles and other things on including the conrner protections.
There the actual box is finished. All you need now is to layer the insides of the box with foam (take this in count when you calculate the box dimensions)
After this you should get a perfect fitting box that looks like this ( I assume

anything to add to make it more stable.
PS: I've read that gluing + stalping wood is the most solid way of making a box like this

After going throught the trouble of building a rack and probably soon a case for my pedalboard, I just decided to buy a case for my amp. Worked out cheaper anyway.
Answer:
A flight case (one that will hold up for insurance inquiries should something happen on a plane) is generally double-walled with some sort of shock absorbent material between the two walls. What you're building is more of a road case. As Lee mentioned, unless you're just after the experience of building a case, you'd save a lot of time and maybe even some cash by getting a custom case made or even buying a ready-made one depending on what head you get.
Answer:
can you give me a links that teaches to build cases like this
tenks so much
Answer:
I know this is about flight cases for heads, but I built something similar for my Pod XTL. It wasn't too hard, but it did take a lot of time, but I definitely saved some money!

dang this thread is old...
