new to effects
Question: Hey guys. I've very new to effects. I've been playing classical and accoustic for 8 years and never really needed any. I just got myself an electric and thought I should learn all I can bout pedal. I've been reading as much as I can so far but some of the most basic questions are still left out so if you can bear with the flood of newbie questions here goes. What does a chorus do? What does a flanger do? Whats the difference between a condenser and a sustainer? How do the digital effects processors compare to the analogue ones? Answer: thanks in advance Answer: Originally Posted by sallyjr Hey guys. I've very new to effects. I've been playing classical and accoustic for 8 years and never really needed any. A chorus basicaly( and I stress BASIC) makes one instument sound like several playing at the same time. A flange imitates the sound you get when you put your thumb on a tape real. I'm not sure what you mean by "condenser", but if you mean "compresor"... they emulate the "compresion" effect you get when you distort a pre-amp tube. Basicaly it limits the the output volume, so that anything above the limit will be brought down to said level. Then there is usualy a gain stage after. And to answer your last question, they don't. Answer: http://www.harmony-central.com/Effec...explained.html as far as analog v. digital goes. they're different. people will try to say that one is better than the other, but ultimately they're just different.
